Born in Shimotsuma City, Ibaraki Prefecture . His parents divorced in his childhood and he was taken in by his mother. He moved to Tokyo when he was in the third grade of elementary school. In 1960 , he made his debut in the Fuji TV drama " Anchan ". The following year, in 1961 , he also starred in Fuji TV's " Santa Monogatari " and gained popularity as a child actor. Since then, he has appeared in numerous TV dramas and movies.
