Kwak Jae Sik is a South Korean writer, professor, and chemist. He graduated from Busan Foreign Language High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Nuclear and Quantum Engineering and a master's degree in Chemistry, both from KAIST, and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Yonsei University.

He worked as a manager of the safety and environment team at LG Chem and was the department head at the Korean branch of Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corporation. He is currently a full-time professor in the Department of Environmental Safety Engineering at Soongsil Cyber ​​University.

He is best known for stories of ordinary people with plot twists of science fiction or fantasy elements and has gained popularity for the use of Korean supernatural beings, and frequently appears as a panelist in several shows dealing with ghosts and mysterious events.
