On January 26, 2016, while filming the television drama "Go! Mei-Ling" (加油！美玲), Mong fell into a coma caused by influenza-induced pneumonia. After 11 days of treatment, her condition was assessed as brain death. With her family’s consent, life support was withdrawn, and she was officially declared deceased on February 5, 2016, at the age of 50.
