Tsuburaya Hajime was a Japanese film and television director, producer, and cinematographer. The eldest son of Tsuburaya Eiji, he began his career on the 1954 film, "Godzilla" and its sequel, "Godzilla Raids Again" as an assistant special effects cinematographer. He took over Tsuburaya Productions after his father passed away in 1970. His main stage name was Azuma Kyoichi, which he used to credit himself when writing lyrics for the "Ultraman Series".

He died on February 9, 1973, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage just after waking up. He suddenly collapsed and was delivered to a hospital, but died soon afterwards. He was 41 years old at the time. It had been only three years since his father's death.
