Goo Ha Ra
- Name: Goo Ha Ra
- Native name: 구하라
- Also Known as: Gu Ha Ra, Hara, Koo Ha Ra
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Female
- Born: January 3, 1991
- Died: November 24, 2019
She made her debut in July 2008 when she joined KARA as the new main dancer, vocalist, visual, face of the group. They debuted in March 2007, but their first album was not a commercial success, and member Kim Seung Hee decided to leave to continue her education in early 2008. As a result, DSP Media (DSP미디어) began making changes and added her to the lineup. She participated in the group's first mini-album, "Rock U".
She made her acting debut in 2011 with a role in SBS's "City Hunters" and made her debut as a soloist in July 2015 with the release of her EP, "Alohara (Can You Feel It?)".
The group faced several lineup changes, and in January 2016, all members ended their contracts with DSP. It was implied KARA disbanded, but all members released statements saying that the group would just be on hiatus until a new opportunity to reunite appeared.
After KARA's disbandment, she continued her career as an actress and solo artist at KeyEast before signing with Production Ogi (株式会社プロダクション尾木) in June 2019. Her last release was the maxi single "Midnight Queen" in September of that year.
On November 24, 2019, she was found dead at her home by her manager, at the age of 28. The investigation ruled her death a suicide. Leading to her death, she experienced multiple traumatic events: a long and contentious legal battle with her ex-boyfriend, Choi Jong-Bum, who assaulted her in September 2018 and threatened to release a sex video of them; a constant state of harassment from part of the South Korean public, aimed at making K-pop idols conform to a strict moral code; and, the suicide of her close friend Sulli, who suffered similar public scrutiny a month prior to her own death. She was cremated 3 days later, and her remains were enshrined at the Skycastle Memorial Park in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province.
