Minami Hiroshi was a Japanese musician and actor born in Kojimachi, Tokyo, Japan. His real name was Nakajima Hiroshi (中島廣), and his former stage name was Minami Hiroshi (南広). He attended Hosei University Industrial School but dropped out.

In 1947, he formed the band "Shin Watanabe and the Six Joes," and in 1952, he formed the jazz band "Hiroshi Minami and the South Men."

After working as a jazz drummer, he made his acting debut in 1958 in the movie "Emergency Line." He signed an exclusive contract with Toei and mainly appeared in contemporary drama films shot at Toei Tokyo Studio.

In 1971, he established the advertising and PR film production company "South" and became its representative director.

He passed away on March 4, 1989, at the age of 60, due to liver cancer.
