In 1963, she successfully auditioned on the Nippon TV program "Hoihoi Music School." The following year, at the age of 17, she debuted as a youth song singer with the single "Watashi no Koibito" under Nippon Crown.
In 1970, she married her manager, divorcing in 1976 and raising one son. Since the 1980s, she has maintained a dual career as an enka singer and actress.
