While studying at Tama River High School in Tokyo, in the spring of 1981, he was scouted by Ryunobu Sasaki, a CM director who was a regular customer of his family's restaurant and appeared in commercials for S.B. Foods' snack "Pafu Stick Corn".
Less than six months after the commercial aired, he made his debut as an idol singer with the song "Girl." Initially, he was not affiliated with an entertainment agency but was managed by Sasaki's CM production office.
Originally, he planned to take over the family business after graduating from high school, but his busy entertainment activities caused him to repeat a year in high school. He ended his singing career after just one year and focused on acting.
He graduated from the evening school program at Meiji University Nakano High School after transferring there.
After working in numerous TV dramas produced by Daiei Television, he began his apprenticeship as a sushi chef during the Heisei era and retired from the entertainment industry in 1994. He took over his family's sushi restaurant.
