She was born into a scholarly family, and she grew up listening to readings of "Mother Goose" and "Perrault's Fairy Tales" in her father, Tsuneo Muramatsu's study. Her grandmother, who loved theater, sometimes took her to see kabuki performances.
At the age of 10, attending Toyoake Elementary School affiliated with Japan Women's University, she developed an interest in poetry influenced by her brother. During their annual summer retreat to Shinano-Oiwake, she was inspired to write poetry after her brother bought her a collection of poems by Tachihara Michizo.
After graduating from Junior and Senior High School affiliated with Japan Women's University and the English Literature Department at Japan Women's University, she completed her postgraduate studies in the English Literature Department at Keio University.
While studying at Japan Women's University, she joined the Bungakuza theater company and later rose to become a member. She made her debut on stage in 1956 in the play "Onna no Issho". In 1961, she married her second cousin once removed, Minamihie Tsuneo.
In 1963, she left the Bungakuza theater company following the "Kibino Koto Incident." She then joined the theater company "Kumo" before becoming a member of the "Group NLT." In 1968, she left NLT again and participated in the establishment of the theater company "Roman Gekijo."
After a hiatus from acting due to raising her two children from a late marriage and handling household duties after her husband's passing, she resumed her theatrical activities in 1995. She founded and directed the theater unit "Salon Gekijo."
She has been writing poetry since her student days and has published several books, including poetry collections and works on childcare and life philosophy.
From 1983, she served as a visiting lecturer for many years at Tottori Women's Junior College, Hokkai Gakuen University, and Keio University. At Tottori Women's Junior College, she was promoted to professor in the English Department in 1993. In 1993, she became the inaugural director of the Kurashiki City Theater "Geibunkan," which opened that year.
