Actor Yoo Ah In's film The Match, whose release was postponed indefinitely due to the actor's drug use controversy, is currently under discussion for release.

On January 20, Distribution company By4m Studio stated to Maeil Business Star Today, "It is true that we are in charge of distribution, but we are currently discussing the domestic release [of the film]. Nothing specific has been decided yet."

A media outlet previously reported that the Yoo Ah In-led film The Match has been scheduled to premiere in March. But the distribution company comments that discussions about the release are ongoing.

The Match tells the story of the legendary Go (baduk) players, Cho Hun Hyun (Lee Byung Hun) and Lee Chang Ho (Yoo Ah In), who go from being a teacher and student, respectively, to rivals.

Initially, the K-movie was scheduled to be released in 2023 on Netflix. However, due to Yoo Ah In's drug use controversy, Netflix and domestic distributors postponed its release indefinitely.

Another Yoo Ah In film, High Five, is also in limbo.

Yoo Ah In was indicted in October 2023 on charges of habitually abusing propofol 181 times between September 2020 to March 2022. He also faced charges of illegally buying sleeping pills using another person's identity and smoking marijuana with acquaintances in the United States.

In September 2024, the court sentenced Yoo Ah In to one year in prison. The appeals hearing concluded on December 24, with the ruling scheduled for February 18.
