Marie began her career in 1979 as Takeuchi Kayoko (竹内香代子) with a debut role in "Journey to the West" while training at the Himawari Theater Company. In the early 1980s, she appeared in over 20 pink films annually under the stage name Higashikawa Kayo (東川佳揚), collaborating with Shin Toho, Toei Central, and others.
Influenced by Yamada Isuzu's shamisen performances, she started studying the shamisen and Japanese dance. Since 2000, Marie has worked as an interviewer for publications such as "Weekly Jitsuwa."
