She had a short career as a gospel singer in South Korea, performing at Christian youth camps. She made her debut in 2010 with the album, "Dream".
In 2013, she passed the audition for "The X Factor Australia" and quickly impressed the judges with her skills. She ended up winning the competition and signing an exclusive contract with Sony Music. After the show ended, she released her debut and winner's single "Alive".
In March 2016, it was announced she would represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song, "Sound of Silence". Her performance at the competition is the highest score ever achieved by an Australian representative with 2nd place.
She left Sony Music in September 2019 and signed with her current agency, ABC Music, in August 2020.
