Following her departure, she married Kawaguchi Masaru and lived in Shanghai during the war. After the war, she returned to Japan as a repatriate. Kumono then worked as a Japanese dance instructor at Takarazuka Kodomo Athena, a lecturer in classical theater at Takarazuka Music School, and a choreographer for Japanese dance at the Takarazuka Revue.
Her family included her younger brother, Torii Masachiro, who was president of Hankyu Department Store, and her older sister, Amatsu Otome, who was a top star and director of the Takarazuka Revue.
