Kitaura Akiyoshi is a Japanese actor born in Nagasaki, Japan, and affiliated with Geiei (芸映). Raised in Hiroshima, he was exposed to the atomic bomb at the age of five in the summer of 1945 but survived with only minor burns. After graduating from Hiroshima University of Economics High School (広島経済大学附属高等学校), he initially aimed to attend Hitotsubashi University (一橋大学) but failed. Following a year of preparation, he entered Nihon University’s College of Art (日本大学芸術学部), Department of Theater, from which he graduated.

In 1966, while still a student, he made his acting debut in the Toho film "Comedy: Ekimae Keiba" (喜劇 駅前競馬). He married in 1973 to a woman one year younger than him, though they did not have children.
