Cho Hun Hyun is a South Korean retired Go player and politician. He graduated from Shinmei Middle School and later in life, he was granted an honorary Ph.D. in Physical Education from Mokpo National University.

He began learning Go at the age of four and passed the test for becoming a professional in 1962 (at the age of 9) and joined the Korean Go Association. He was invited to Japan and was originally supposed to study under Minoru Kitani, but he rejected him at the last minute for reasons unknown. Kensaku Segoe took him under his tutelage but demoted him according to the Japanese ranks. He passed the Nihon Ki-in professional exam three years later and became the first player to hold professional certificates from two Go associations.

He enlisted for his mandatory military service on August 27, 1973 and was discharged on August 31, 1976 as he took time to compete in several tournaments while on active duty.

He is considered one of the greatest players of all time with 150 professional titles, including 11 international titles. After retiring, he ventured into politics, joining the Saenuri Party in March 2016. Then, in 2020, he was appointed as the Secretary-General of the newly formed Future Korea Party.
