He first appeared in the ssireum world when he competed in the Dano Jangsa Ssireum Tournament and won the Baekdu Jangsa title in 2022. Later that year, he also won the Cheonha Jangsa Ssireum Festival, becoming the first university student to win the tournament since Lee Man Ki did it in 1985. He joined the Yeongam County Traditional Ssireum Team in 2023 and continues to actively compete around the country.
