In 1977, he joined The Shilla Seoul’s Chinese restaurant, "Palsun", and introduced the dish known as Buddha Jumps Over the Wall to the South Korean culinary world in 1987. This dish brought a significant change in the Chinese cuisine consumed in South Korea from Sichuan to Cantonese. In 2024, he received a Mentor Chef Award from the Michelin Guide.
He is the first person in the Korean culinary industry to become an executive at a major corporation. He currently oversees the one-Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant "Haobin" located at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel.
