Nachi Wataru was a Japanese actress and a top star of the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female musical theater troupe. She specialized as an otokoyaku, playing male roles. Nachi graduated (retired) from the Takarazuka Revue in 1968 after achieving legendary status as the top star of the Star Troupe. Her final stage performance with the troupe was titled "My Idol". Her departure drew chaotic, idol-level crowds, featuring roughly 500 standing fans inside and over 300 fans waiting outside the dressing room doors just to catch a glimpse of her departure.

At the age of 42, she fell in love with and married Sato Bunsei, a 59-year-old prominent Japanese politician and former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.

Upon her marriage in January 1979, she decided to leave public life completely, famously stating that she wanted to step away from the spotlight to "become a normal housewife" and support her husband's political career. Her husband would later die in 2000 at the age of 81.

She passed away on July 21, 2023, aged 86.
