Lu Yang is a Chinese film director, screenwriter and producer, born in Beijing and graduated from the directing department of Beijing Film Academy in 2007. His father is Lu Hai Bo, a director and professor of the department of film and television of Central Academy of Drama.

In 2010, Lu won the KNN Award in the New Wave Unit at the 15th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea with his directional debut "My Spectacular Theatre". The movie also won the Best Director's First Film Award at the 28th China Film Golden Rooster Awards. In 2015, his work "Brotherhood of Blades" won the 6th Annual Young Director Award of China Film Directors Association and also the 16th Huading Award for Best New Director in China.

In December 2019, Lu served as the vice chairman of the Youth and New Literature and Art Group Working Committee of the China Film Association.

In June 2021, his movie "The Sacrifice" won the "Most Media-Focused Film" and "Most Media Focused Director" of the 18th Movie Channel Media Concern Unit, and also the "Director with the Most Media Attention" at the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival.

In September 2021, his work "A Writer's Odyssey" was awarded the "Night of Youth honors the Most Popular Director of the Year" of the 28th College Student Film Festival Awards at the Beijing International Film Festival.
