She began working in small modeling gigs at the age of 16, initially based in his hometown of Shiga Prefecture. She then transferred to Tokyo at the age of 18 to begin working nationwide, making her official debut in 1994 for a magazine called "Petit Seven". She gained notoriety the following year when she appeared as the model for Yakult.
She also began appearing in variety shows in 2007 and, in 2009, she married Choo Sung Hoon. The couple has one daughter, Choo Sa Rang. In 2018, she opted to move to Hawai'i with her daughter despite the harsh criticism from the Japanese press. She returned to Tokyo in early 2025 as all the family has been actively appearing in Korean and in Japanese shows. She is represented by Bonboo Entertainment (본부ENT).
