In 2008, she moved to Japan and began her acting career as Yumi Ito. She was born in Tottori, Japan. Her father is a second-generation Zainichi Korean from Japan, and her mother is a Korean from Chungcheong. She lived in Japan until she moved to South Korea at the age of 15. She attended Korea Kent Foreign School during her teenage years.
In 2009, she transitioned back into music as Iconiq and released one studio album, one mini-album and seven digital singles. In 2016, she announced that she had transitioned into acting as Yumi Itō in Japan and Ahyoomee in South Korea.
She got married to her non-celebrity husband on November 2, 2022. On January 9, 2024, she announced that she was expecting her first child.
