In 1895, when he was 18 years old, he joined the new school "Otojiro Kawakami Ichiza" led by Kawakami Otojiro. In 1899 when he was 22 years old, he participated in overseas performances and acted on stage in the United States and other countries.
In 1917, he was invited to join the Nikkatsu Mukojima Film Studio, and after a long theater life of 22 years, he became a movie actor. His first work at the company was "Ro no Chigiri".
