In 1948, he made his first appearance in Daiei's 'Doburoku no Tatsu' under the stage name Nakano Ryuichi (中野竜一). In 1949, after joining Daiei, he changed his name to Hasebe Takeshi (長谷部健). In 1955, he moved to Nikkatsu. In 1958, he transferred to Toei. He began his television career in the late 1950s. He was also affiliated with Zenshin Pro.
His parents are actor Nakano Eiji (中野英治) and actress Hanabusa Yuriko (英百合子).
