Yi Shu, whose real name is Ni Yi Shu (倪亦舒), is a Hong Kong writer and novelist born in Shanghai, with ancestral roots in Zhenhai, Zhejiang, China. She and her brother moved to Hong Kong when she was five where she was raised. She now resides in Canada, holding a dual Hong Kong-Canadian citizenship.

She began her writing career as a journalist for Ming Pao, a newspaper agency in Hong Kong, at the age of 17, after graduating from secondary school. After immigrating to Canada, she began primarily writing novels, many of which have gone on to get adapted into television dramas.
