He left the Faculty of Letters at Hosei University (法政大学文学部中退) and began his career with Daiei (大映), later working with the Munakata Office (宗方事務所) and Art Promotion (アートプロモーション). He was also part of the comedy duo Marui Tarou (丸井太郎) with Pin Boke (ピン・ボケ).
Misumi Hachiro passed away on August 29, 2016, at the age of 80 from ischemic heart failure.
