Son Jin Young is a South Korean singer and actor. He graduated from Gyeyang High School and later attended Hanseo University but dropped out of the Theater and Film program. Prior to debuting, he has a promising future in taekwondo but, during a high school tournament, he began arguing with an opponent after a match and the school saw it as damaging to its reputation, so he was forced to quit. He enrolled in university pursuing an acting career but almost immediately enlisted for his mandatory military service. During his military service, his father died of a heart attack and he was not able to continue studying as his family suffered economically. After working many part-time jobs, he entered the singing survival show "The Great Birth" (also known as "Birth of a Great Star") in 2010 where he was mentored by Boohwal's Kim Tae Won. When the show ended in early 2011, he made his official debut as a singer but his 1st single album was received with mixed reviews. He made his acting debut the same year with a role in the drama "Lights and Shadows" and has provided OSTs for a few dramas. He appeared in an episode of "King of Mask Singer" in 2016 and afterwards entered a period of inactivity until he reappeared in episodes of "Video Star Season 2" and "Let's Play Soccer Season 1" in 2020, but he has not appeared on any TV show ever since.
