Hongo Naoki is a Japanese singer and actor from Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. He works exclusively for New Century Records.

After working as a Ground Self-Defense Force officer, in 1971, he participated in the audition program "Star e Bakushin!!" on Nippon Television and won the Grand Champion. In the same year, he made his debut as a singer with the single "Moeru Koibito" from RCA, and won the 13th Japan Record Award for New Artist.

Besides acting as a singer, he also appeared in many historical dramas and police dramas. However, in October 2000, he collapsed due to intracerebral hemorrhage and stayed in the hospital for 7 months. After that, he made a miracle comeback, but this time he suffered from diseases such as renal failure and gastric ulcer. He resumed singing while undergoing dialysis three times a week and amputated one leg in December 2020 due to his worsening illness. Edit Biography
