In 1894, he joined Kawakami Otojiro's "Kawakami Otojiro Ichiza", and made his stage debut in Yokohama. In 1902, at the age of 27, he became independent and formed the "Shin Engeki Mori Sannosuke Ichiza".
Later, he advanced to Tokyo, and in 1911, he appeared in a silent movie at the studio of Yoshizawa Shoten in Meguro. In 1912, the company merged with the other three companies to establish Nikkatsu. Until the end of 1914, he appeared in many works. In 1915, he left Nikkatsu and presided over a chain drama in his own troupe at Honjo's Juza.
