Matsuzaki Makoto was a former Japanese actor and former Self-Defense Forces member. His real name was Sawai Ichiro (澤井一郎). His father was the actor Sawai Saburo (沢井三郎).

He joined the Self-Defense Forces in 1957 and was discharged in 1959.

He became famous for serving as the cushion carrier (5th generation) on the Nippon TV network's "Waratte Iitomo" from July 18, 1971, to September 30, 1984. He held this position for a long period of 13 years. The reason for his appointment was that he was a relative of the producer. Although officially he "graduated" from "Waratte Iitomo" to "focus on his acting career", in reality, he had to withdraw due to poor health.

In 2006, he retired from acting and primarily engaged in lecture activities nationwide. He passed away in May 2015 at the age of 83 due to old age.
