In 1992, she was a backup singer for Seo Taiji and Boys and a backup dancer for singer Yang Joon Il. In 1995, she won the Female Newcomer Award at the Korea Musical Awards for her role in the musical "Save The Last Dance For Me", and one year later, she won Best Supporting Actress for "Singin' in the Rain".
In 2000, she made history as the birth of her daughter was recorded and broadcasted in the SBS documentary, "The Miracle of Life", where she chose underwater childbirth as C-sections in South Korea were approaching 50%. She returned to musicals, and in 2001, she won Best Leading Actress for he role in "Chicago".
