However, she was overshadowed by star actors, and she was forced to stay in small roles in films. In the meantime, she was caught by director Kim Soo Yong, who was looking for a new 'youth duo' to replace Shin Sung Il and Uhm Aeng Ran, and she was selected as the lead role in 'Dangerous Body' (1964). Director Kim Soo Yong, despite the opposition of the production company, cast Choi Nan-Gyeong and Lee Hoon as the main characters. With the success of the film, Lee Hoon and Choi Nan Gyeong received public attention as a new youth duo. Choi solidified her position as a lead actress through 'Dangerous Body' (1964) and 'Beware of Girls' (1964).
In 1964, she received attention as a promising newcomer, winning the Best Newcomer Award at the film magazines International Film, Film Magazine and the Film Awards established by the Busan Ilbo. In 1966, she appeared in the play 'Arirang Pass Over Na Woon Gyu', a play commemorating Na Woon Gyu's 30th anniversary, in which she participated in the new film exclusive.
She emigrated to the United States after which she appeared in 25 films by 1967. While living in the United States, she also appeared in Dong-A Export Corporation's American location film 'San Francisco of Mourning' (1975), but she finally retired after the film. She recently returned to Korea.
