Why are people acting so weird? The manhwa has one gay couple and a hetero couple. They adapted it correctly.…
There's no straight couple in the manhwa, and the other gay couple won't be included. They didn't adapt it correctly

we just want to make sure they don't straightify queer material like "highschool return of a gangster". the trailer…
"Also, I may be the minority side of this but HSROAG being watered down is a good thing since that's literally a p*do novel"

They were going to change the story, they could’ve changed or reworked the "soul" ages and school setting to address the issues you have/avoid controversy. Removing the romance wasn't the solution. And the adaptation didn't have to be "p*do"

"Say that to your parents for bringing you here no"

I have, I've demanded an apology from them

The thing is, it's not just my "parents" who are at fault. Society's conspired to bring me and everyone else here. Every baby-gushing "aww" and pregnancy-congratulating "yay." Every "children are the future" slogan and "start a family" ad had a hand in my birth. Everyone should be lining up to apologize

"... why should it be called agenda when that's literally just as normal as the other"

"Normal" things are part of a master plan and an agenda

According to the other commenters, he went on a date with a boy in a separate work authored by the same individual (Seeing Double)

"Like Thai Bls where everybody and everyone is gay that you feel you are watching a made up story"

A fictional story feels … fictional? I don't see the problem

"Straight" media pretends gay people don't exist. Most of the time, every character magically identifies as "straight." It’s fair that BL returns the favor and pretends "straight" identifying people don't exist. I call it balance

Chan Young and Ji Yu aren't canonically together in the source material. Men and women can be just friends, and you/this adaptation ruined that friendship

"Why do they normalize a straight couple in a bl story" Because it's normal? Straight is normal, gay is normal,…
"Kinda ironic thing to say when our whole existence and the reason being born, thanks to a straight relationship"

I don’t owe anyone a thank you. "Straight" identifying people should be apologizing to me for dragging me into this nightmare they call "society"

“Their screentime is merely a couple of minutes"

There's no time limit on whether something is unnecessary or intrusive

If an advertisement interrupts me for a couple of seconds, should I pretend it doesn’t affect my experience? The problem isn’t the length, your "straight" agenda doesn't belong in a BL

"... to emphasize that both gay and straight relationships exist naturally alongside each other"It's possible…
"I have a very close gay friend and whenever i show him BL, he cringes ..."

Your "close gay friend" isn't "the only gay person in the world"

You can't cherry-pick your gay friend as the representative of all things gay. Plenty of gay men and gay women enjoy BLs for flipping the script and creating a world where being gay is the rule, not the exception

"He created a BL show where the main couple is gay, which itself proves he isn’t homophobic"

Creating a part-gay, part-straight story doesn't give the producers a magical shield against homophobia

"BL, originally created to fulfill straight women’s fantasies ..."

So what? Superhero stories are designed for young boys' flights of fancy. Romance in general is marketed towards girls and women. Adult men dig these genres, too

"He also resents how BL creators often use gay relationships as a tool to cater to straight women rather than portraying them authentically"

Who decides what’s "authentic?" Gay experiences are diverse. Some experience soft, fluffy romances, some dramatic love triangles, some intense angst. No one piece of media represents everyone’s reality

"... most BL shows create a fantasy where everyone is magically gay"

Fiction isn't reality. It's a magical place. And in a magical place, anything is possible, including everyone being gay. That you can't imagine a fictional world full of gay people says more about your lack of imagination than "everyone is gay" BLs

"This naturally helps normalize the queer experience in a way that feels organic and inclusive"

Gay stories making room for "straight" stories doesn't normalize the gay experience. Two reasons:

1) Presenting gay relationships alongside "straight" ones encourages audiences to view and evaluate gay relationships through a heteronormative lens. They won't be able to appreciate gay relationships on their own terms

2) Mixing gay and "straight" stories distracts from the message of normalizing gay relationships. Audiences' attention is divided between two different types of relationships

Gay-only stories excel at normalizing homosexuality. They immerse audiences in a gay-centric world. They'd be able to better empathize with gay characters' emotions and experiences

"... to showcase a world where different sexualities coexist"

I'm allergic to "straight" identifying people and their lifestyle. We can coexist ... on opposite sides of the planet. Do you understand that? We need separate spaces, media, societies

You can't storm into a feminist hangout and dictate they spend half their time on men's woes. Same goes for BL. You and your close gay friend can't storm in demanding equal airtime for "straight" stories

"... serves primarily as a fantasy for straight women"

Part-gay, part-straight stories satisfy your "why can't we get along?" and "straight" fetishes. You get off on being so open-minded and inclusive that your brains have fallen out

"Blocking you"

Blocking others for disagreeing with you is like sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la." Not mature or productive

"You can shout about it all you want, but that won’t change the facts"

The fact is you're wrong. You've been reading too much fake news

I'm glad we see eye to eye on this

Let's keep advocating for BL to stay genuine and focused on the gay stories it was created to tell

from a monetary point of view it makes sense that they added a straight couple to the mix to make it more "palatable"…
"From a monetary point of view, it makes sense that they added a straight couple to the mix to make it more 'palatable' for the general public"

The goal is to generate profit, we know, and it's more practical to cater to the audience who enjoys BL. Watering a BL down for homophobic mainstream audiences isn't a good (or moral) strategy. They're unlikely to watch it anyway. Their brain cells short-circuit at the sight of gay people or characters, so they avoid the genre

Imagine opening a sushi restaurant and dishing out burgers as a main course for economic reasons. How does that make sense? Someone wants a burger, why would they walk into a "sushi" restaurant? At that point, admit you don’t have the guts to commit to BL and fall back on yet another boy-meets-girl storyline

"No one is saying you have to be happy about that"

I wasn’t planning on being happy about it

BL isn’t just about a gay main character, it’s about gay stories taking center stage. If half or most of the screen time shifts to a "straight" story in the next 9 episodes, it's not a BL. Not to me

If you have to keep screaming "it's BL/gay!" from the rooftops, chances are it's not BL or gay
"They couldn’t have done it if the creator had no consent, so if the creator gave their consent, what right do we have to say anything?"

"Consent" isn't a magic wand. It's not like the creator whispered "I give consent" and everyone's mouths were magically zippered shut. People can disagree with the creator and say, "that wasn't the best move"

"... where were you when they completely straightwashed the drama called something like highschool gangster or something?"

I was there. I remember the "High School Return of a Gangster" censorship debacle and how the "creator consented" excuse was used to shut down criticism. You're regurgitating the same excuse. Are you proud to be part of the problem?

"Definitely will continue"Why does your decision to keep watching invalidate others’ concerns?
"... why are you assuming things on your own"

Isn't everyone? You’re assuming I’m starting a fight. I’m assuming you’re not a fan of criticism. Let's both assume a little less

"This is none of my concern"

It's "none of your concern" and you still gave me a lecture. You care more than you let on

"... please keep this page toxicity free"

I have a right to comment and make sure my voice is heard in the middle of this toxic positivity

I know life’s unfair. It's full of ups and downs, and we shouldn’t let mediocrity in storytelling or gay erasure be one of the "downs" or low points in life

"(I am not sure if it's true)"

I read the manhwa ages ago (and loved it!), and I actually really liked the first ep too!! I've been waiting so…
It’s so "obviously" BL that some people mistake it for a bromance. What a top-tier love story

One episode isn't enough for a firm assessment of the drama as a whole. I'll need to watch more episodes to determine whether it's BL in my book

A side lesbian confession and an "almost" BL confession. Maybe next episodes, the men will "almost" hold hands, and by the finale, we'll get an "almost" relationship

"Almost" doesn’t count, or I'd be swimming in cash from all the almost-promotions I’ve had

People are threatened by the rainbow, they try to dull it down with their bland "straight" gray
