Not OP, but I just finished The Road to Splendor. It had a happy/satisfying ending to me. Romance isn't the main focus of the plot, so keep that in mind. It leaned more into politics in the latter half. But don't worry, the main leads had a very happy ending :)

You're right, it does remind me of POJ! I also agree with wanting more romance in the second half. Obviously, their relationship was still strong, but it was strained up until the final couple episodes... I'm still content with the ending nonetheless.

OK, I FINISHED WATCHING. I definitely liked it. I have to admit, I loved the beginning half a lot but got lost in politics in the remaining half. But that is just because I don't like politics and angst much. With the nature of this drama's plot, it was inevitable, so I won't complain. Overall, the plot was easy to follow and felt pretty unique.

I love the main leads' relationship a lot; I loved that they both had their own lessons to teach each other and their love to give one another. They really worked their way up from the bottom, and they BOTH contributed in their own ways.

DYX and DEX's acting in The Road to Splendor was seriously good and improved a lot since Melody of Golden Age. Their chemistry here was amazing too. Overall, a 9/10! A good watch :)

OML I'm on ep8 and I'm loving it so far. I forgot how INTENSE Ding Yuxi's stares are,, I keep having to pause for a breather. DYX and DEX's chemistry is on fire in this drama too!!

I don't know about other watchers, but I thought this was a very good watch. I loove fantasy dramas, so maybe that is why. The plot was interesting and easy to follow for the most part. I just love how there were no misunderstandings, and I personally liked both the leads' personalities. I thought they looked so cute together, and I loved the ending a lot!!

Honestly, I think it'll do very well. I'm not too familiar with what is going on between their fans on Weibo, but I think both HMH and Esther have a solid fanbase that will support them outside of those involved in the nonsensical fighting. And internationally, they are popular too... so I highly doubt it'll flop. Those weird fans can go cry about it for all I care 😭

I always find it funny when fans fight each other when their favs are amiable and have no bad blood with each other. Like how y'all gonna watch your fav's drama when you dislike their on-screen partner pftttt

if you watch on, they'll explain it in ep 6. yuanji is his wife/consort on paper, but they're not romantically attuned to each other. and ruisheng is the wife of an ex-soldier in the beifu army that passed away. the child is hers and her husband's. wuyi took them into his household so they wouldn't be ridiculed; wuyi and ruisheng aren't romantically involved with each other either.
