I haven’t read the book 😭 Can you please tell me what the misunderstanding is and how it happens? I don’t…
yes try it. i think you will love it. i have still have not reached the main revenge portion of the story but based on initial dynamics it feels like it's going to be a good story.

why? is it not engaging enough? i am on ch 10 of "empress reborn" and enjoying it. can't wait to see how she gets her revenge. it looks like she is going to be ruthless.

That was quite quick. I just finished reading “a touch of green” and just as you said it was a light, good read. Currently because of my low/flat mood, i want something engaging so i am stuck between whether to read “dancing with the tide” or “empress reborn”. Also, “Behind the mask” is my most anticipated drama so I’m a bit reluctant whether to read it or wait for drama.

it's surprisingly good if you like second-chance romance with angst and tension. it's a pretty typical romance trope, but quite enjoyable, mainly because of the push and pull in their relationship.
ps: idk if you've read "Royal Betrothal", but if you haven't, i definitely recommend it. i read it before this one, and it was amazing. maybe bcoz it was my first historical novel, but i found it deeply engaging from the beginning to the end.
Wow 1 ep/day started in the airing week itself. Looks like there’s a tough road ahead with more days of 1ep. I still remember the first frost schedule and it had me at my wits. Looks like i better binge it later😁 However, people who are watching please tell did they keep fwb plot line of the novel?
I 100% agree with you. They both have flaws, but that doesn’t automatically make them red flags. They have their…
This being my first novel and my all-time favourite novel is precisely because of how the character felt real. There was no green flag ML, just like in every other drama. And the female character growth was also remarkable. The hesitation within her because of low self-esteem and background, didn’t come in her way to be a better version. And actually, it’s the ML brutal honesty that makes her to thrive for more.
People are commenting, it’s a toxic rlp and ML is a red flag. I have read the novel, so based on that, I don’t agree with either. Does he have flaws? Yes. Does their relationship started on a wrong foot? Yes. But that doesn’t make him a red flag or their relationship toxic. I don’t know how much they have changed in the drama, but I really hope people would have an open mind to it because it’s a romance between flawed characters where one has a very high self-esteem while the other low self-esteem, which eventually, from the starting itself creates an unequal relationship. Both the leads throughout the entire series grows to be a better version of themselves.
Based on the clips that have been released so far, it looks like they are very closely following the novel, but novel is so long and the drama is just 24 episodes. I don’t know how they are going to put everything into these 24 episode. But I am really looking forward to it. Probably, I’ll wait for it to air and then binge it hehe.
what’s the difference between drama and the novel?
the only similarity is he is the emperor and she is the official/ex-noble, who met when they were young, else everything is different. there's not much politics, no case of that pill or the gang. it basically a love story between an emperor and official with a little politics. the story starts with ml's mother being the emperor and his father having retired from politics. they met when he was a crown prince and gradually fall for eo, with his favor helping her become a powerful female official feared by others. but what i really loved, despite being ambitious, capable, and powerful in her own right, she is also deeply devoted to him. their relationship develops gradually and you actually get to see why they become so important to eo. she was his sword, and he was the person she was willing to give everything for.
ps: here devotion to him isn't just because she loves him. she knows him to be a benevolent ruler whose ideals and hopes align with the people, just like hers.
Thank you the person who recommended me to read the novel. It’s absolutely beautiful and now i am crying over how i won’t be able to see the live adaption. They really did dirty to this drama by not following the novel.
Just saw the weibo update video and i know this will be my favourite drama of all time. I couldn’t stop smiling while watching. Hope we get release date soon.
