Yes, he was so aloof! It felt like he wasn’t interested in her romantically during their childhood, even though they were good friends. He only showed interest after returning. They had little contact while he was away, and I think they even lost touch at one point, so his sudden interest felt a bit abrupt.

I find it hard to separate the two as well. But I agree—the writer has done a great job! Even with fewer episodes, the essence and feel of the original drama are still there for me.

in the original one, the SML didn’t fell in love with FL. He just wanted to have a family, so he thought falling in love with FL will make them a real family. So you can say, it was just a thought rather than really falling in love. They later became real siblings.
And the plot was just for few episodes, since this is just 16 ep compared to cdrama of 40 ep, i don't think it will last more than one ep or max 2, unless the writers wants to drag it.

in the og (cdrama), the daughter was at one point fed up with her mother and wanted to live with her brother.

something happened to the mother and ml went to look after her. when he was planning to come back, her sister made a fuss about how she wanted to have him stay with them. she can't bear the mother anymore on her own.

also, idk how much they will follow the og, but the mother is going to be more annoying.

yes, i also noticed that. in the og they didn't felt close and fl was the only one who bought them together everytime. (for instance, in a group of 3 there's always one who is close to both the person but those two aren't necessarily close to eo. it felt the same in og.)
also, in this one ml isn't expressionless like the og. so, maybe that's why it's more noticeable.

Actually, I also felt the same. It looked like she was playing with him around. Only in the later episode (when ML had an accident) did it seem like she liked him. Otherwise, most of ep felt like he isn't important to her.
