It's not a plothole. Because he didn't move in for 3 years. It's 3 years since Segasaki offered the contract, but Yoh just moved in for about several months so this is their first rainy season together. According to sensei, Yoh just moved in since March or April. He didn't just move in rite away after the offer. I think the way Yoh narrates the story causes misunderstanding. After watching ep 2, you will know why Yoh is an unreliable narrator.

So you go watch ep 2 first. They explained it clearer in the drama as there's longer run time. And about the contract, He didn't just buy Yoh as Yoh agreed to it. I believe Yoh alr think about it clearly before moving as he had nearly 3 years of considering the contract, no one is forcing him to move in anyway. He offers to provide for Yoh so that Yoh can continue his work, which Yoh even though didn't know it's a proposal, but he still took it. If he doesn't want, he could leave or run the first time they do it.
In the drama, we could also see Yoh kisses Segasaki back. In ep 2, Yoh always looks fw to Segasaki coming home and makes food for two (he forgot Segasaki couldn't make it to dinner). He unconsciously made a teru doll to wish for sunny days too and get jealous with the MC. It's a two-way relationship, they are just bad at communication. And have you read chapter 5 of the manga where they explained Segasaki's characteristics and his behaviour

It's not toxic. They just have communication problems. Segasaki doesn't speak much while Yoh overthinks. Ep 2 will explain why it's a marriage and they will figure this out. And one important thing: it's consented.
Ep 2 is still doing so good, with some new scenes added to show more clearly Segasaki's affection towards Yoh (it's not very clear in this ep in the manga - bc yah know, in the manga the story is told from Yoh's POV, and he is not a reliable narrator). With new scenes added, we can see Segasaki's affection and care. He was so happy running home T.T. There are alot of memes in this ep too :)))) and ofc the meaning behind the "contract" is also revealed. Ep 3 is the "cafe sketch" scene and new scenes will be added - their date, BUT we have to wait until Aug 31 :(( the show will take one-week hiatus.

Because they have just started to co-habit recently, they are still new to each other's life and of course their misunderstanding/ miscommunication makes more sense. So please don't think Tanada is "traumatized" or "abused" in three years because it's definitely neither an abuse nor 3 years. The overall plot is them opening to each other and solve their misundertanding/ miscommunication. And yes, there are funny or juicy incidents in between, probably mid eps where Yoh's work is really at stake. They are clumsy and silly so it's not a big dea; it's interesting tho.
