This drama is so highly rated here and there are so many positive comments. But I am into episode 10 and about…
Each episode surpasses the previous one as the plot unfolds. The first episodes, especially the first 8-10, focus on comedy, building the world of Dafeng and the familial and friendly relationships that Xu Quian forms. Romance is not the main focus, but it develops subtly and isn't annoying. The dramatic part is gradually built up, and each episode, although it may initially seem like filler, ends up connecting perfectly with the rest of the story. The emotional scenes are masterfully constructed, and the series has the ability to change tone, going from comedic situations to tragic moments, skillfully playing with the viewer's emotions. Each character is carefully developed, making you fall in love with each one of them. There are several memorable moments in this drama, especially in the intermediate and final episodes. But the ending is something else, the last 4 episodes are the best for me, an emotional rollercoaster.

We don’t care about Douban rating and other malicious rant. We have acces to Western movies/ Tv series, Cdramas,…
The drama premiered on December 28th. Why share links from sources that speak very badly about the drama just one week after its premiere, especially when it was already facing unfair criticism for its early minutes (I found that last part ridiculous)? You can't calculate success by only looking at the first few days after its premiere. This drama has 40 episodes, many dramas had a good start but unfortunately ended in failure due to their weak development, unlike this one which had a solid development.

In my opinion, you can't give credibility to a drama's success and potential based on disdainful comments lacking argumentation from people who only watched the first 4 episodes, and even less so from sources that try to measure success when the drama hasn't even reached its finale.

Thank you very much. After GOTD and LTTN, everyone is interested (and it was even trending on Weibo) in his next starring drama. Fingers crossed that it will be a masterpiece!

Seems we are getting close to confirmation. The studio hasn't made the announcement yet.Just to be prepared, here…
Is there more information about this drama? Does anyone have the link to the novel? Apparently, this will be Dylan's next drama, although it's not confirmed yet, but based on what's being shown, it's possible. Dylan proved in GOTD that he can carry a drama on his own, however, although the next drama seems interesting based on the synopsis, and the director has good dramas, the screenwriter worries me.

I don't think they failed in the romance department, though it was slow, there were some sweet moments between the characters (well-executed kiss scenes, especially). However, if you're looking for a drama packed with romance, this one is definitely not the option.

Ten episodes in, and are they seriously pushing romance between ML and this annoying princess? seriously? ugh!…
This drama is very entertaining. Each episode is a piece that fits into the puzzle, keeping you interested in the plot. The comedy is funny and witty, with comedic moments that will make you smile. I liked how the characters are developed, not just the protagonist. The secondary plots are interesting and well-worked, making you feel connected to the story.
Although romance is not the main focus, it develops slowly and movingly. Overall, this drama is a good choice for those looking for an interesting and entertaining story.

I completely agree. None of my friends are loving this the way I am.I’m getting ready for 38. Have you finished?
I finished it as soon as the last 5 episodes were released. Dafeng is worth it.

This drama deserves the appreciation it's receiving. Don't be fooled by the first episodes filled with comedy, this drama is more, much more than it seems. I waited for it for over a year and it didn't disappoint me. Here, you don't just fall in love with one character, you end up loving them all. None of the characters feel like filler, each one has a story.

EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED FROM THE BEGINNING, AND AS THE PLOT ADVANCES, THE PUZZLE PIECES START TO COME TOGETHER

Episodes 38 and 39 were incredible, the best without a doubt (although it's worth mentioning that all episodes were very entertaining). It's very hard to say goodbye to this wonderful drama. It's the first time I've finished a drama without skipping a single episode, and it made me feel deeply invested in its story. I cried along with the characters, laughed at their antics, and loved every characteristic and how they were portrayed. The comedy was gold to me, the fight scenes, the messages about courage, freedom, justice, honor, and the meaning of existence itself were very moving and thought-provoking.

Dylan did an excellent job in this drama. If there's a possibility of a Season 2, I'll be eagerly waiting for it.

Ep 35 slowly building tension for tmr’s express… I think they prepared the ending for a S2 and I worry it…
Dramas very successful have had low ratings on Douban, is it necessary to compare the rating with the success it's having and the good reception by the general public?. If the drama wasn't good, it would have already lost audience by the middle of the episodes, however it has remained among the top 2 spots despite the enormous competition it had in recent weeks.

Most criticisms on Douban are absolute nonsense, giving 6-character comments to discredit this drama when it had only been on the air for 30 minutes. This clearly shows that there's a lot of bias when it comes to criticizing and giving opinions.

I recommend you watch until episode 15, if you change your mind, great! If not, well... all the episodes were good for me, but the ones I highly recommend watching multiple times are episodes 15, 21, and 32

Ultimately, this drama deserves more than an 8.5 rating. It's vastly different from what we're used to seeing in CDramas, and its innovative approach shines through in every episode. Each character has their own time to shine, and the transitions between comedic, suspenseful, and dramatic scenes are seamless. The choreography is also well-executed. Every episode improves and draws in more viewers. I just hope it continues to receive the recognition it deserves.

Usually, when watching dramas, I tend to drop them around episode 20 and speed through the rest at 2x speed, as they often drag on and lose their initial charm. But this one is different - it improves with each episode and keeps you hooked."

I'm blown away by how seamlessly this drama shifts from drama to comedy! Episode 32 had me laughing out loud, Dylan's comedic timing is spot on. The CGI was also impressively done. Can't wait for the dramatic twist, it's gonna be epic!

Chapter 31 was truly captivating. Dylan did an excellent job portraying his character's storyline in the modern world. GOTD is undoubtedly a drama that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The plot continues to advance consistently up to episode 31, with only 9 episodes left. Regardless of the ending, it's been an adventure watching this drama and waiting for it for over a year. It didn't disappoint at any moment, and if there's a second season, I wouldn't mind waiting another year for a story like this.

The storyline and plot is so damn predictable ...whereas the comedy is really off..like some funny scenes are…
I don't think the story is predictable at all; it's quite the opposite. Each case is resolved in a very interesting way, without leaving behind the elements introduced in the early episodes (unlike other dramas, where they often include something in the plot and then forget about it later). Here, everything is connected.

Regarding the comedy, I haven't had any issues with it so far. I like how each character shines in their own way and pokes fun at themselves.

As for the romance, I've seen several comments about this. If you're looking for pure romance, there are other dramas that might be more to your liking. This drama only presents romance as a secondary aspect, without putting too much emphasis on it. After all, the main focus is on the mystery and comedy. The romance develops slowly, but it doesn't affect the drama's progress. The scene in episode 23, I think, shows that even with limited interaction between the ML and FL, romance can be portrayed perfectly.

Am i the only one who thinks this show is kinda underappreciated on this site? Maybe because it doesn't focus…
Definitely, this drama is being highly underrated. Since its inception, the drama has had a consistent progression, lovable and non-boring characters, well-executed sad scenes so far, and a fast-paced rhythm. Many viewers, especially international ones, tend to watch more romantic dramas, focusing on the CP (couple pairing) scenes of the leads. It's clear that this drama doesn't focus on that aspect, making it less interesting to some. However, it would be great if stories like this, with a well-crafted plot, received more appreciation from the audience.

The drama keeps getting better and better. The mystery scenes are still being executed perfectly. The new characters are really interesting. I'm not sure if it's the director or Dylan, but the references to other movies and series are hilarious and always appear at the right moment.
