A decent alternative to typical western disaster movie.

A nice prequel with a rather slow act on the drama side but it definitely works after the universe build up. Not your typical western disaster movie where the heroes usually focused on a white group with one or two expendable minorities here and there, rather you get a grand set but you are most looking at the iminent disaster from the chinese point of view.
Effects is on marvel's level but i pretty much think marvel already stuck on first avenger movie level for how many years now?
Music (not song) is grand and I don't know chinese movie actually spend that much time on music.

Perfectly watchable as a standalone series with great casting and story.

Just finished it today and although it feel slow some time in the second halft, the overall story and plot feel interesting enough with good acting of both the old actors and the young ones especially Liuhaoran.'s. There's a balance of palace drama, wonderful fighting scenes and some grand war act here and there. The old emperor and his brother relationship make up for a very strong first half while the young actors took of the second half pretty well.

Story:
Less intrict then the first one but well developed and not feel rushed anymore.

Acting:
There is Huangxiaoming being Huangxiaoming most of the time but thankfully other actors doing really good though some of the female cast pretty much being one dimensioned.
Also fighting scenes is really good.

Music:
Nothing memorable but it feel soothing and just aligned with scenes.

Costume and Setting:
One of the most important thing of chinese palace drama is of course the costume and setting and everything look perfect here. It definitely showing the budget you can't find in 99% of the palace drama out there.

Most annoying main and female lead ever.

Watch it because of the score but sadly this show is painful to watch because you basically watch a king actor only know how to express pain and clutching his chest most of the time and female lead written as an intelligent and martial prodigy but act completely different most of the times.

Music: you got nice shenshen's song but that's it

Story: if they cut it to 20 episodes instead of 49 and throw all the two main lead scenes maybe it will become more watchable

Act: for sure the actors can act but due to char development you can expect same expression from beginning to end of the show.

Rewatch value: 0. No clever plot, you only watch it if you are the fans of the male or female lead fix expression here but for sure their other shows should be better.

Nice acting but weak story and so so production.

Pretty much your typical chinese fantasy drama but with pretty decent male and female lead. Story wise it is the typical demon lord/villain and fairy/good female troope, production seems nice but bad CG here and there, fighting scenes borderline lame with most character only opening their arms and then let the bad CG do the fight. Bailusi and Luoyunxi act well as usual but they are protaying their typical characters and it is mostly slow scenes focusing on their face. Setting is ridiculous, everyone wear super thick makeup and lipstick even the male character, wearing their best cloth and full jewelry to sleep that you will definitely think how they do it. The producer also try to keep everything looks beautiful that even a broken palace can look so clean without dust and a crazy abandoned maid come with full makeup with grand clothing. In the end, I expect a slow series but hopefully not boring one.

Until ep 4, typical c drama plot. I think we have at least two similar demon lord and some goddess love story last year.

Act
Good acting limited by weak story from the two main cast, other cast barely noticeable.

Music
Nothing too memorable, even the end OST by maobuyi and zhangbicheng.

Setting and Clothing
Everything looks too beautiful and fake. I am pretty sure I will not see dusty place or actual dirty cloth in the whole series.
