DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS

i had this drama on my list for a while but always put it off due to the bad reviews, so when i finally watched it i wasn’t expecting much, but omg this has to be one of my favourite bls i’ve watched so far!

Everything from the characters, the acting, the visuals, the soundtrack and the couples, i love it so much. i honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this show. I really wanna mention how the show focuses on gay marriage and really brings light to how 2 men or 2 women loving eachother is no different to a man and woman loving eachother, due to gay marriage not being legalised and fully excepted in thailand like opposite sex couples are. I was really impressed that they shed light onto such an important issue.

HIA LIAN AND KUEA:
The main thing i saw that people had an issue with was the toxicity between Hia Lian and Kuea, but if you compare it to some other bl couples they really aren’t toxic at all, it was actually very refreshing. These guys made me smile so much my mouth would hurt! At the beginning their relationship was very one sided with Kuea being the only one seemingly interested, but when he decides to call off the arranged engagement due to Hia Lian basically rejecting him, Hia then realises his actual feelings towards kuea. We see their relationship grow throughout the series and their chemistry is unmatched! And omg the spicy scenes… they weren’t just full on sex, but you could see the passion and love they feel for eachother just by kissing. Not to mention the consent!!! I loved that Hia always made sure Kuea was okay with what they were doing it was lovely to see, considering how common dubious consent and r*pe is in bls. ZeeNuNew seriously did an amazing job.

OTHER COUPLES:
This is genuinely the only show where i’ve actually enjoyed the side couples.
i really loved Hia Yi and Khondiao, they were actually adorable. At first i was a little worried where they’re relationship would go, but it just kept getting better. Yi cares for Diao so much, at first it was because he felt guilty since he was the reason Diao lost some of his childhood memories, but you could really see the love they have for eachother as their relationship grew and i really started rooting for them. Diao was a little annoying at times i wont lie… But Nat did a great job playing him. Both Nat and Max did amazing.
Now for Syn and Nuer, i am so obsessed with this couple! I just wish they had more screen time but im excited to watch Cutie Pie 2 to see the rest of their story. I’m a sucker for Enemies to Lovers and i also loved Yim in Bed Friend so i may be being biased but i really enjoyed every scene between them.

ACTING:
I really wanna dedicate a paragraph to NuNew because holy shit that man is not only stunning but insanely talented. I couldn’t believe this was his first drama! His acting was so raw and real, he really knew how to portray different emotions. The crying scene in episode 12 made me cry from how real it felt. And i of course have to mention his gorgeous voice, when Kuea first started singing on stage i literally prepared myself to cringe but i ended up putting my headphones in and turning up the volume, he gave me chills everytime. NuNew seriously deserves every award he’s received.
The rest of the cast also did an amazing job especially Zee, i really loved him in Why R U and he continued to impress me, not to mention he is absolutely gorgeous.

HUMOUR:
I wasn’t expecting this drama to have so much comedic relief but some scenes honestly had me flying, all the characters got along so well and it was really nice to see friends in a bl genuinely love and support eachother.

SOUNDTRACK:
The soundtrack in this series was so good! From the songs Kuea would sing to the actual ost and even theme song.

There are so many other things about this show that i loved but i’ll just leave it here. I think cutie pie is so overhated and i have no idea why, I know everybody has preferences and i do understand why people may see Lian as controlling at first, but he literally allowed Kuea to live his actual life even if it meant he was being constantly lied to.
i enjoyed every second of this show and i’ll definitely be watching S2 and rewatching the show in general. I couldn’t recommend more!

WASNT THE BEST BUT I LOVED IT

I didn't have major high hopes for this drama as the “supernatural” aspect kinda put me off, but thankfully after watching the show it was more of a “who dun it” than an actual curse on the school.

TW in the series: Suicide, depression, very mild violence.

First of all i wanna say this isn't the best bl I've ever seen, but i really did enjoy it and its definitely in my top 5. Mainly because of FirstKhao’s acting and chemistry.

What i liked:
For me the best thing that came out this serious was firstkhao, but especially khaotung. His acting is honestly amazing and he really takes his characters seriously, every emotional scene with him felt so real and made me shed a tear from how believable his emotions were. But even when ayan is happy or messing around khao did so good portraying that. First also really impressed me. I really hope to see them in more series together since their chemistry is unmatched.
It gave me an enemies to lovers vibe which im a sucker for so i really enjoyed seeing ayan and akk grow closer and more comfortable with each other as the series went on.
Although its extremely sad, i really liked the storyline of teacher dika’s (ayans uncle) s*icide. I liked that it gave it a bit of a darker side to the series other than the whole “curse” bs. It added to the mystery aspect and did a good job of making me wonder why he really did it. And the plot twist at the end genuinely had me shook, it may have been obvious but i wasn't expecting it at all.
Akk coming out to his parents was beautiful, a lot of dramas I’ve seen tend to ignore the fact that coming out to parents can be really hard and scary so I'm really glad they included that. Also loved Akks parents for being so sweet and supportive.
I really enjoyed the ost, i didn't realise khaotung sang the song that payed after the scene akk was comforting ayan after his nightmare, it made the scene really beautiful and khaotung’ voice is lovely.

What i didn't like:
Unfortunately the supporting characters were a little forgettable as the series went on, although i did really enjoy Wats character. The second couple just didn't really do it for me so i did skip some of their scenes.
I get that at the beginning Ayan was acting a little sus, but Akk was treating him like he was a convicted criminal. It just felt quite forced.
The background music was so unserious at points it literally made me laugh, but it got better as the episodes went on.
I feel like Ayans trauma was kind of overlooked, they did a good job showing how his uncle death effected him with his nightmares and anxiety attacks, as well as him being on medication. Although i think they could've dove deeper into how bad his mental health really was, the scene with him and his mum broke my heart when she asked him not to leave her like his uncle, you could see the hesitation before Ayan reassured her that he wont.

Overall, though this series isnt perfect, it really is worth a watch and i will be rewatching it eventually.
