Hmmm 🤔, TJR, isn't he becoming a popular choice? You mentioned it out loud and he was mentioned quietly below.…
Im mostly biased towards the couple of options that are a little closer to her in age and look believable and not like her uncle. While i dont much care about what the age gap is in actuality, it just looks better on screen i feel like if the leads dont look like theres a generational gap. TJR has a baby face.
Unless of course age gap is part of the plot, which is fine.
Display a bit of critical thinking skills, this obviously isn't a romance drama. They aren't a couple.
clearly someone who has eyes but no braincells to process what they're seeing. no point arguing with people with no braincells friends, it only hurts us, sighs. as long as we know what we're talking about and we're cultured and have watched more than 3 costume romances on netflix. let the dumb trolls be dumb trolls, they have no other joy in life clearly.
Had potential, clearly short some budget and also feels like a drama that was supposed to be 36-40 eps that blatantly got cut short a LOT. What could have been an 8.7 feels more like a 7.1 sighs
A weird demure? Like everything was kind of down played and not as "epic" with the bgm, build up, cinematography l, cgi, etc. Not low production, just intentionally subtle? Kind of like the story was being told by a monotone narrator the whole time
But for some weird reason i binged the whole thing eagerly anyway. Which normally i find it quite hard to get into and through a drama this long. It has left me thoroughly confused as to whether i liked it or not😕
The leads did what the leads were meant to do for sure, acting wise. The side characters were under developed for me.... yeah idk.... its a very intentional directing style for sure....
since theyre not going to air this because of the (unnecessary and ridiculous) zhang zhe han blacklisting, can they at least sell the story rights or something and have it remade
Does anyone know why it was shelfed in the first place? Seems like it was a pretty high budget epic. Recently shelfed because of yu menglong controversy i understand (i dont agree but it was expected) but why hadnt it aired before?
this not being 9.5+ is criminal. it's so good that i want to watch it again but i get 5 min into ep1 and im already crying remembering the first watch and cant go on
Ehh, im not mad i watched it but im not jumping to watch it on replay, its like a 7 for me
I ended up caring way more about xiyang and jingyan at the end than anyone else.
Also i dont know what was filmed first but chen he yi completely bombed this one for me. He had 1 expression the entire time. He was waaayyyyyy better in the princess royal
I want to like this but i cant get over the timeline flaws. Theyre supposed to be in the 90s in china. The cars, some of the clothes, office building architecture, even conference rooms and ppt tech seem really unrealistic for that time period. Even the girls' apartment seems very 2015. The complete disregard for the setting and custom design details for the time period continued to poke at me as i was trying to watch and i just couldnt do it.
maybe a product of just 2017 production quality in china plus limited budget. but the acting was also very meh and with voice over made it that much worse... i think it's a good premise and i hope that someone does a reboot using today's production quality and a half decent budget. story could be good.
Unless of course age gap is part of the plot, which is fine.
i would like to see her paired with:
Chen Zhe Yuan
Zhou Yi Ran
Zhou Ke Yu
Tian Jia Rui
Chen Xin Hai

Naturally not anything special either. Standard B-/C+
