"oh my god, my parents are trying to save and protect me from possibly getting a long jailtime and tremendous…
The first time that biological father lied of being an uncle that was the limit for me. I was like i don't trust a single word coming out of this persons mouth. And I was way to right about that hunch. He is epic piece of sh*t.
no, Su Yeon was at the hospital, she wasn't adopted, that is not a plothole
I don't know whether you noticed this but su Yeon adoptive parents were shown in later episode like either in 6, 7or 8 when they came a day before to see suyeon and left doing the formalities and was to come next day (the day fire happened) and then the adoption was pushed it's not very clear if they really said no (which I think they did) or orphanage did let her go as they were talking how the expenses to cover burn surgery is extra so why would anyone want to adopt a child with added expense. And yes those two are different sets of parents
I'm on ep8 and I trust no one here. God! The unhealthy way I have binged this drama is beyond my own understanding. I'm watching ep9 but wanted to write this here before 😅. I don't trust the adoptive parents, but I doubt biological one way more. At this moment I don't even trust Seon Hui, the amount of blood she has walking back home, makes me think otherwise. At times, I thought she might have killed others too, blacked out her trauma, and the adoptive parents are protecting her in name of being a perfect family in the society. Other times I thought the parents were fucked up, especially the dad cause the way he was and mom is same way but little less. Then recent episodes makes me believe mom is more unhinged one and the dad has to cover her tracks. But now I don't believe anyone not even Hyeon Woo. I love the way the series is write and the actor are playing their part.
thank you for the rating who said "not for everyone" that's why I watched it cause I have seen the dramas i enjoy often have ratings as not for everyone on MDL.
I don't know what you are exactly pointing out here but as many Cdrama go ahead is also divided into different…
I agree on that as well. I said I don't know what specifically she meant as she said after 20 episode the romance portion began around 24-25 episode and then become main plot and had more screen time that stopped after couple of episode. And after that the ling xiao mom part was toxic as well
i hope they don't add the toxic part of go ahead, go ahead really tried romanticize some toxic behaviours so i…
I don't know what you are exactly pointing out here but as many Cdrama go ahead is also divided into different plot every 10-12 episode. If you have paid attention, first few episode was childhood then after that was highschool and then leaving then the time apart then then coming back then for 5-6 episode the romance then back to overarching plot of the mom trying to take back Ling Xiao second time and him finding strength to say no and Ziqiu finding his mom. Many Cdramas are like this. Here the lead were 5 people so the small plot was for all five and side plot was for side characters. Now if a Cdrama has multiple couple as leads then episodes divides itself in almost equal parts or scene given to each couple
Episodes 3&4 done. I'll go the usual way to describe what I love so that I can see this series as stand-alone. So here it is. In initial episodes, meaning 1&2, the story seems much more like a true copy-to-copy remake with a little twist here and there. Maybe that's why I found myself drawing more comparisons between the OG version and the remake. By episode 3, it was very easy to see clear differences in the remake, and now I want to address this as a story inspired by GO AHEAD rather than a true remake. I can easily see it as a stand-alone series, I'm enjoying it even more; not saying that I hate it in the first 2 episodes; just putting out how the first 2 episodes, especially one, have scenes true to the OG.
Now keeping this aside. I'm in love with the cinematography. I like the character and their emotions here. While in OG, the character is way more layered, here not too deep, still not one-sided. Haejun seems to get triggered in violent ways when someone says Mom here which is very different from Ziqiu, who gets triggered more protective way when people talk about his mom particularly. Sanha has a different arc as well. We see the clear difference he put from the beginning when it comes to Juwon and his mother, which I found more interesting than Ling Xiao, who had so much trauma that he was easily pushed over by his mother and the relative on the mom's side. I still find Li Jianjian and Juwon's characters very much similar, although, in the first half, the younger version of Jianjian was very jealous (sorry for the lack of a better world here)/protective of the family unit situation had created. Juwon is more protective and isn't very jealous when the new sister is in the picture. Even with parents character. I am still hopeful for more scenes with the two fathers. Now, to talk about Haejun's biological dad, he was straightforward and started blackmailing Ziqiu and complied him to leave with him for England; Haejun's dad didn't seem that bad till now. Sanha's mom I didn't think Ling Xiao's mother's character could get nastier than that but I'll give her the grace that when she wanted Ling Xiao back she admitted to treating him bad in her own ways and wanted to keep him just to make herself feel okay that now she is a caring mother but Sanha's mom is still blaming him for the death talking about the ignorance while being a negligence parent herself; although they both had the same vibe as soon as they married in the rich family their state is suddenly okay while still blaming and creating a burden to their ex-husband and the child they abandoned.
i feel like they'll change this part from the Original (& i really hope so bcz the only thing i really disliked…
I don't know if you watch go ahead to the end. Ziqiu didn't fall for Jianjian, though he proposed a marriage so that the family became legally one and he was legally registered as a member of the Li family. Even later in the episode, li Jian Jian knows this. That's why she turned down the proposal and talked frankly about this to Ling Xiao and Ha Ziqiu. He did admit that he liked Jianjian, but the romantic feeling was not there, but he was okay to get married to her if she wanted that.
Qi Ming Yue (Park Dal's character) had a phase of liking He Zi Qiu (Kang Hae Jun's) but it barely got explored,…
IKR! It was 5 leads. There are many Cdrama that has multiple leads rather than traditionally ML & FL. And they give them proper screen time to tell their story
Qi Ming Yue (Park Dal's character) had a phase of liking He Zi Qiu (Kang Hae Jun's) but it barely got explored,…
Yes to all that you said. Genuinely speaking I had feared the most was if kdrama went too much in a love triangle it might end like true beauty where viewers remember it mostly for SML syndrome; when Zi Qiu's character's intention to propose was to be included in the family register legally and not romantic like Xiao.
I read few comment here only who said they didn’t watched the OG drama cause Steven Zhang didn’t get the girl while other commenting that they had sml syndrome so they didn’t even bother to watch it. It broke my heart a little that such beautiful drama is only weighed if the sml got the girl or not. Also it feels like people are so used to kdrama ml, fl & sml trope that they seems to skip the part where most of cdrama has multiple main lead per say having different story arc. Even cdrama list them as main leads and not ml, fl or sml
Qi Ming Yue (Park Dal's character) had a phase of liking He Zi Qiu (Kang Hae Jun's) but it barely got explored,…
Agreed that's why I'm saying I want to see Park Dal and Hae Jun to end up together. I wasn’t saying I was disappointed with Ha Zi Qiu’s character not getting a love arc I love the character the way it was written in Go Ahead he was my favorite right after Li Baa. I'm just saying when story went with jian jian and zi qiu to have romantic feels and viewer got torn that he didn't got the girl, I was pointing that his pairing with Ming yue looked much better and by the end writer also hinted they can be a couple.
What happened in the cdrama version with hae jun and park dal's characters? Did the writers just kinda build them…
So in the OG version Park Dal initially had feelings for Hae Jun but cause of an incident during high school she lost that when Hae Jun's character got a bit harsh cause of his mom (not directly and unknowingly) towards her and Sanha's character kinda comforted her with his words (that's how his character was shown) she got infatuated with him and that infatuation grew more cause he stay connected to her just to get info on Juwon's character. But when she learned that she was kinda upset. Apart from this when she got into college and started to get out of her mom's grip. We see her getting her feelings back for Hae Jun when he came back from England and they kinda began to have a banter kind of relationship. Also to point Hae jun character in OG was way too reserved and had a fear of abandonment that he rarely got into a relationship (romantic ways) he was always looking forward to becoming a legal part of the family so his character was somewhat always more dedicated toward FL. I wish I had known better words to describe his character as it was not overdone, cliche or boring but more nuanced and has depth. His character did seem to have a good relationship with Park Dal but never fully developed as a romantic one.
But it seems they are going to be together. Also, the way Go Ahead ended seems like the story is going to live ahead and doesn't finish with the ending it is just we are not seeing them more.
The original drama it's much sadder because the kids were LOCKED inside the house. So basically he couldn't even…
Not to mention she was kinda sick of being a mom and locked the door to go outside to play mahjong which was here favourite timepass. When the daughter chocked on the walnut he couldn't call for help and the mother blamed everything on him knowing her fault very well. The reason for their move was also because that neighborhood know how the mom was and they talked how she is responsible and just to get out of that chatter she asked for the move and blamed everything on the kid. Also I too thought she had depression or was bipolar but as soon as she left that family (kid and father) it seemed she was instantly cure of everything got married in rich family which her mother want her to even before marring her present husband, had kid and was living happy in matter of days not years. And the grandmother has equal audacity like the mom asking ML to take care of his mother just cause she was his mother and a kid has a duty to look after their parents once she lost her husband. I'm sorry but what the f**k are you talking about old lady. Even his aunt(from the mother side) was same.
Done with ep 2 time to put down what I like.I initially commented I was excited about how they were going to show…
I am also looking forward what profession they choose as the FL is not seen more as sweet tooth girl which was present from the start in OG and was huge part in OG version of them choosing to be dentist and pastry chef.
Also on deeper story of 2nd brother I still remember bawling my eyes when 2nd brother was washing clothes in middle of night secretly cause the aunt said don't take them for granted and he feared that if he did he will be abandoned by them in OG)
Done with ep 2 time to put down what I like. I initially commented I was excited about how they were going to show 2nd brother's story, they handled it nicely through her aunt who constantly reminded him that he should be grateful. Sorry to say but I like the child version way too much; the teenage is seemingly lacking something but I'm loving the teenage version of Hae Jun more and more. I have no idea how people are picking up the romantic side through his portrayal towards Ju Won when the actor is clearly delivering the emotions bang on. He was latching on to any affection he was getting (which was not intentional by the FL and the rest) because of chatter and constant reminders from his aunt, the fear of abandonment is settled in his mind. The actor is captivating with his portrayal of the character. I'm looking forward to that. Park Dal, I'm also loving her, I remember in OG the class president cum best friend of FL initially had feelings for 2nd brother before getting infatuated with 1st brother but then by the end started to get that feeling back. Even in the OG version, they clicked more than 2nd Brother and FL, I wish kdrama chose a different route and kinda made them a couple of cause even with a little interaction Park Dal and Hae Jun look good together.
Now, I have to address a few things that was off. Sanha's portrayal as the perfect male lead and a cool guy, I know at the end it is a trope but seems like the writer intentionally chose to give the common traits of a kdrama lead to him, Ju won being a pushover was bit off-putting and her portrayal in teenage made intentionally like a typical kdrama FL. I hope I'm addressing this right in most kdrama there is a clear show that the ML and FL have a certain way no matter how good SML will be he will be made a bit douchebag in front of FL (Hae Jun asking Juwon to say sorry while Sanha came as a hero, which is very odd considering Har Jun’s character to ask Juwon to apologizes). Apart from this the story of 2 dads is very little present in 2 episodes which can grow so I'm hoping to see more of them, but I have to admit that Sanha's dad seems a bit cut off from their found family.
One thing that was my favorite part was all the three kids in OG address both dads as dad and not shushu (ajhushi) like the FL and 2nd brother call her dad BAA and ML dad LING BAA while ML called his dad BAA and FL dad LI BAA. That detail was very subtle but made them look more like a family unit.
IKR??? I was waiting on how they'll handle 2nd brother's storyline as well. I was a bit disappointed that he was…
Exactly the aunt's touch was nicely done. Showing him a happy kid and then showing he was not could have came as a over done things but after watching episode 2 it was nicely handled. I guess scene like the cloth washing secretly in night or the infamous period scene will not going to be the part of this series which to me is good thing. I saw how they shown 2nd brother life moulding cause of neighborhood chatting and his aunts constant reminder (which was also present in OG). Being said that I agree the emotional level is bit short but I don't think the character of Ha zi qui can be performed easily the way Steven Zhang did. The little add on by the write of OG made the entire drama so much close to our heart
thank you for the rating who said "not for everyone" that's why I watched it cause I have seen the dramas i enjoy often have ratings as not for everyone on MDL.
