Calling minor students Monsters to justify there human right volition, and everyone is just happily clapping,…
Wow. It seems like the violence just escalates as the show goes on. I'm glad I decided to drop it. Beating the living daylights out of teenagers is a temporary solution. In reality, it can easily backfire.
I went in with a clean state of mind. No expectations. 'From the very first day, ominous signs begin to appear.' I got curious because of this line in the plot summary. I watched episode 1 and found the ML's facial expressions very funny. I'm not sure about the plot, but I'm going to continue this drama because of the ML.
I believe violence cannot solve the bullying problem in schools. Instead, the underlying issues should be dealt with. But in the show, there are power imbalances like adults using violence against students and vice versa. Which is disturbing to me. So this show is controversial even if this is fiction. But this opinion is obviously an exception.
I agree with everything that you stated. I started this drama with high expectations because I usually enjoy this type of shows but I couldn't watch past episode 1 because I feel the same. The violence against students is triggering for me. I think if they wanted to justify corporal punishment they could have toned it down a bit. The ML slapping the bullies is unsightly.
While I agree with the top two reviews, I still found this drama worth watching at least one time because the teacher's struggle is real. But they could have developed her narrative more deeply. Same issue with the ml. His story seemed half baked. Everything was in a rush. Too much focus was put on the side characters. But they never make them interesting enough. Their scenes feel like filler. The scene where the teacher puts her life in danger to find the gift ml gave her is stupid. The teacher has a sensitive personality okay but why make her look childish.
After watching season 2, I feel the last episodes set the tone of this season which is the depiction of unbreakable bond of friendship between Si Eun, Baku and the rest of the guys. It's really special and to me seems only exist in fiction cause in real life friends like that are rare. In the comments and also the top two reviews, some people are not satisfied with season 2 as they're comparing it with season 1 and comic. I watched this season with fresh mind without thinking about the comic and previous season and enjoyed it. The show could add more depth to the storyline by making the characters and their motives more nuanced yet it still delivered. Watching shows like this gets me thinking why bullies enjoy hurting people? Is it for the false sense of control or power? Or to release pent up frustration? From experience I know that most of the time bullies get away with their actions and are hardly held accountable before the victims specially in societies where law is non existent. The ending warms my heart and gives hope that, even if rare, true friendship and trust still exist.
This show would have been great if they continued with the narrative shown in the first two episodes. The whole meeting again in the company, making up lies, then dragging out the lies and how the truth was revealed felt unrealistic and almost cartoon ish. After 10 episodes I have lost the interest to continue. I'll watch the rest of the show just for the sake of finishing it not for the plot...
Finished the show. It was gripping, epic and dark. Very dark. The bullying flashbacks and the gore scenes gave…
The animation is a toned down version of the drama, I must say. The show has more horror and mystery vibes. They changed the character of Jung Jongsuk entirely in the show.
P.S Good luck with your exam!
