Complexity is good, but the writing has to be good as well. Complex alone means very little if it's not done well.…
I have a feeling that the missing 12 years was also filled with a lot of struggles/things DH is not proud of that is keeping him in this perpetual state of shame and stunted emotional growth. As for JY, he strikes me as a 'fixer' and a lot of his actions are borne from this. I guess it's hard to change a fundamental personality trait and he doesn't seem to have much support/ a support network to lead a different kind of life. To be honest, they both seem to be stuck in life. They are two broken people, living instead of addressing what's holding them back and unable to grow.
They are all messed up people, even JY. As much as I pity JY for being an abandoned puppy, I don't care how you…
Interesting take. I suspect the relationship between DH and HH is more akin to debtor and debtee. DH behaves as if he is being held hostage by HH. The discomfort is palpable.
At this point in a bl series, we’re usually waiting for the main characters to confess to each other yet here we are with these two crackheads, already on their fourth confession. 😅
Could you all stop childish and inane scaremongering? It’s not helpful. This was sold to several international…
I hear what you are saying but the Spirealm that's available on the platform(s) now is a re-released, edited version of the Spirealm we watched when it first aired before being taken down. We know the Chinese government has a lot of power to either censor, cut scenes, take something down or force the creators to remove their own projects themselves. NOTHING is ever a done deal when it comes to Chinese BLs.
I think my favourite characters in k-dramas are turning out to be the mothers/grandmothers and the ajummas and ajusshis. They're almost always played by the veteran actors who give the best performances. Considering how youthful and vibrant Jung Young Joo looks in real life, she really nails the mum/ajumma characters.
I don’t know why but this dual language thing, yet everyone seems to understand just doesn’t work. I can suspend belief for dramas but I can’t seem to do it for this type of concept. Maybe if it was just the leads able to understand each other it would come across better idk.
Maybe it’s because you’ve only got the one character speaking a different language and he occasionally also speaks a few words of Korean, making it all the more odd. Perhaps if half the characters spoke Thai or if they threw in some more characters speaking other languages like Japanese, English, Mandarin etc, it would be easier to buy into that world of everyone being able to understand each other.
