The story is turning towards more of a Kunning Palace direction, except Bai Lu FL wanted to be deserving of a pure heart man, and Zoey FL thinks she needs safety.

I know people criticize Zoey for lack of face expressions, but her eyes says it all. FL is just sorta like Plum Fairy in Ashes of love, except her affectionate side wasn’t blocked by magic, it was blocked by her life experience, so she can’t recognize her own feelings.

I traveled for M&A deals to Middle East and Asia too, and not many places have business hotels. We once supported an acquisition of the textile factory in Indonesia. That whole city only had one hotel, and we stayed in there.

The drama portrays 2 characters who had extremely traumatic childhoods, what kind of fairy tale do people expect? In real life they both had more than 50% chance of becoming addicts.
Drama softens edges a lot, but they both also were never taught how to love by their parents. CY was constantly beat for imaginary sins of his dead mother. MJ was in a vicious circle of her mom constant switch between caring for her and abandoning her.
So they both are really emotionally unwell, struggling with their identities and forming attachment.
CY freaked out of her being endangered and dying like his mom, even though MJ wasn’t even close to dying; and then he did to her exactly what her mom did - cared for her and abandoned out of nowhere.
And on top of that they had this fake siblings part where they shared a home during ahem puberty and sexual awakening.

So anyone looking an escapism drama about one true love with no hint of reality should watch something else.

When we go to JP Morgan conference in San Francisco, we always book suits with extra room to have work meetings. Lots of investors in town with now place to meet confidentially. When I traveled with my team for M&A deal, the suit was booked for me, and the whole team constantly worked from my suit, because doing due diligence on site of acquisition target isn’t a good idea.

She is not dying, his expression of his desire to keep her alive is borderline controlling. He manipulated her application and pretty much stalks what she does.

ML is toxic too. He obviously has PTSD.

Yeah, the storyline is essentially about toxic past, enmeshment and hopefully healing their traumas, so that checks out.

I know, we were just counting princes. XLoveW said all princes fell for her, I pointed out that only 2 out of 5 did, and then we added Fifth prince who is also prince 3/5 to fall for her.

IMHO, the only Chinese actress for me that has really strong acting chops is Liu Yifei.
Even if we look into A-list - Dilraba, Yang Mi, Yang Zi, Zhao Liying and Liu Shishi, they all are typecast just like ZLS or Bai Lu. It’s a sad reality of Chinese film industry, men are given variety of options and women struggle to get away from their type.

All fantasy Cdramas have ridiculous plots, that typically has femme fatale FL who turns brain of all men around her into mush.

I’m just amazed that production crew keeps filming Blossom stories with Zoey Meng. Did CDrama now assign the word in title to specific actresses? Zoey Meng is Blossom, Wang Chu Ran is fireworks…

So the only thing you find unbelievable is 2 out of 5 princes falling for her? Not the souls swap, not assassinations twice a day, not a prince who is sick, but still can defeat healthy martial artists, not wild bees curing color blindness?

I’m sorry, but 99% of Chinese actresses are always cast for the same type and do the same type of character every time.
It’s how the industry works.
Let me guess, you’re probably Zhao Lu Si fan, who thinks that her acting potential is so much better. Never met more vile haters than ZLS fandom.

I didn’t realize it was Jeremy Xu at first! It’s an interesting twist since he was ML at Royal Rumors with Zoey Meng.

I’m only on ep 4, and character development seem to be evenly split between ML and FL.
At least, unlike First Jasmine, neither ML nor FL have deep mental health struggles.
