This story requires its viewers to have empathy and be willing to understand the reasons behind each character’s actions. From the very beginning, the series has been promoted as a story about two red-flag characters, so it’s already clear that neither of them is supposed to be a perfect or morally good person.

To me, *You Maniac* is a story that shows human beings with all their flaws. It takes us through the uglier and more selfish sides of human nature, while also exploring what shapes someone into the person they become and how people can change.

If you’re looking for a story with a completely unique concept, then maybe *You Maniac* isn’t the right one for you. But personally, I don’t find *You Maniac* predictable. There aren’t many BL series that start with two main characters who both have flaws like these. Usually, one of the leads is the “angel” while the other is the bad one, or both of them are basically good people.

So I’m honestly a little confused when people say the story is predictable. No offense, though—this is just my personal opinion.

I think both Dean and Moth are still attracted to each other mainly on a physical/sexual level at this point.

If anyone is wondering why Moth suddenly started becoming interested in Dean, I think it’s because Moth has been alone for so long, and he was basically forced to date Dean because he wanted to make Punn give up. I think Moth was already attracted to Dean from the moment they first met, maybe because he was attracted to his looks. But as they kept dating, even though they constantly bickered, Moth started experiencing what it feels like to have a partner and someone by his side. He was also experiencing what it feels like to allow himself to be liked by someone. Maybe that unfamiliar feeling is what gradually made him more attracted to Dean.

As for Dean, I think he’s attracted to Moth because Moth is challenging and not easy to win over. There might also be a bit of pride involved—Dean wants to prove that he can win Moth over and eventually sleep with him. I don’t think he has realized yet that he actually likes Moth.

That’s why whenever people ask him what he wants to do after they sleep together, he never really gives an answer. Even when Ten asks him, Dean gets angry, because deep down, he’s also conflicted about whether he genuinely has feelings for Moth or whether he’s simply chasing his own lust and desire to sleep with him.

Basically, this is how I interpret Dean as characters in Episode 4.

I think Dean and Moth are both selfish characters, perhaps shaped by things that happened to them in the past.

Dean keeps moving from one partner to another, maybe because of his past . He doesn’t want to settle down with anyone, because for him, it’s better to be the one who leaves first than to be the one who gets left behind. Maybe that’s his way of protecting himself.

But in the end, this behavior leaves him with no one who is genuinely serious about staying by his side. Dean also never really takes anyone seriously. Whenever someone starts wanting a serious relationship with him, he leaves them. That’s why he never really has anyone by his side, just like Hun said—anyone who takes Dean seriously is basically an idiot.

That’s because people intentionally leaving negative comments here and bring praise to mr fanboy. The people watching You Maniac aren’t doing that—we’re just focusing on our own series.

Yeah, I personally like story tropes where the bottom isn’t weak, and I think the dynamic between a playboy and an avoidant is actually pretty rare in BL series. That’s why I’m confused when people immediately say this series is bad. Just look at what they wrote in the comments: “shitty story,” then bringing up Mr. Fanboy and saying “not me, Ticket to Heaven is good.” From the kind of stories they mention, it’s pretty clear that they prefer stories with more unique or unusual themes. But just because a story has a more ordinary or realistic theme doesn’t mean it’s bad

Honestly, I’m starting to suspect that they didn’t even watch the series at all. Because the way this story portrays things—like bringing your date to meet your group of friends, going on a date to a Waltz dance, and using those moments to show that the two characters have completely different preferences and lifestyles—is actually something you rarely see in BL. I honestly can’t remember ever seeing scenes like that in any other BL before.

You know what I don’t like? They commented as if You Maniac has a bad and predictable story, then brought up "Mr. Fanboy SO good" , when that series is actually way more predictable in terms of its storyline. The difference is that they have different themes. So that doesn’t mean this series is bad—it’s more like this just isn’t the kind of storyline they’re looking for. So there’s really no need to question why it has an 8.7 rating. Everyone has different tastes.

For those who might be wondering why Moth could still have feelings for Dean after all those terrible dates, this is how I personally interpret it:

1) Moth was already attracted to Dean from the beginning.
It might have started simply because of his looks. Even Est mentioned that Moth was attracted to Dean because of his appearance. And compared to the other people who approached Moth, Dean wasn’t aggressively chasing him from the start. I think that also made Dean stand out to Moth.

2) The fake dating situation gave Moth a chance to experience what having a partner feels like.
Because Moth had to pretend to date Dean to deceive Pun, he ended up experiencing things he probably wouldn’t have experienced otherwise—having someone to dance with, someone to go to an art exhibition with, someone to play painting games with, and simply having someone around.
And as Episode 3 showed, their dates weren’t entirely bad. There were actually moments that Moth genuinely enjoyed.

So I think these two things explain why Moth could still be attracted to Dean, despite the fact that their personalities are almost complete opposites.

It’s not necessarily that Moth thinks Dean is perfect or that he ignores all of Dean’s flaws. I think there are simply certain things about Dean that Moth is genuinely drawn to, while the fake dating situation also allowed him to experience moments of happiness that he didn’t expect.

And personally, I think that makes Moth’s feelings much more understandable

Everyone keeps saying they already know how the story is going to go and that everything is predictable. As someone who has read the novel, I can only laugh 😂 The actual story is nothing like what people expect. Literally none of the theories and speculations people have about the plot are even close to what happens in the novel.

But at the end of the day, it’s all a matter of personal preference. For me, this series feels quite different from the usual GMMTV series. I actually think the story is really good. Some people simply don’t enjoy slice-of-life, and that’s completely fine.

What I find interesting is that the story isn’t really following a typical or mainstream BL formula. It’s very character-driven—the plot moves forward because of the characters, their personalities, choices, and the way they deal with things.

Honestly, can you name many Thai BL series with this kind of story? It’s not necessarily trying to give you constant plot twists or dramatic events every episode. You have to understand the characters to understand where the story is going, and I think that’s what makes it interesting.

Of course, some people prefer stories with extraordinary or highly unique plots, and that’s completely fine. But if you enjoy slice-of-life stories and appreciate good storytelling through character analysis, then I think this is a series worth watching.

I actually find the way they portray their relationship really interesting. In the beginning, it almost feels like all of their dates are going wrong. But as the story progresses, we’re shown that not every date was actually a disaster. There were happy moments too—moments that we might overlook when we’re angry, hurt, or too focused on their arguments.

I think the series is playing with our perception of their relationship. We’re not just watching what happens; we’re also seeing how the characters themselves perceive and remember what happens.

That’s why I don’t think this is a predictable or typical BL story. The plot is driven by the characters—their personalities, choices, emotions, and the way they affect each other. If you like stories where understanding the characters is just as important as following the plot, this series might be for you.

From this episode, we can see how different Moth and Dean’s lifestyles are. Moth prefers quiet, more focused hobbies like dancing the waltz, painting, and visiting art exhibitions, while Dean enjoys things that involve interacting with people like having meals with his friends, vlogging, and going to clubs.

I really like how the story takes the time to show each character’s individual life and the different worlds they come from.

I also love that in the episode 2, a lot of people thought Dean already had feelings for Moth. But, the story actually showed that neither of them had fallen for each other yet. They even ended up arguing during their date, and honestly, that's understandable

And the editing in the waltz dance practice scene was SO perfect. The explanation made it even better too. They said that sometimes when people are upset with each other, they only remember the bad parts of a date, even though there were happy moments too.

And then they edited in those scenes of them actually being happy together on their date. Wow. 😭 I really love how intentional the storytelling and editing were here

For some people who are saying the characters aren’t well-written. Seriously, if you’re expecting the main characters to be perfect, always do the right thing, and never make mistakes, then maybe this isn’t the kind of story you should be watching, because the story is never going to go in that direction.

This story is incredibly human. Every character has their flaws and their darker sides, and little by little, they’re going to learn how to confront and work through those flaws. You’ll get to understand each character’s habits, the reasons behind why they became the way they are, and what shaped them into who they are.

That’s simply what this story is about. So if you’re looking for a drama where one person is completely good and the other is completely bad, you’re not going to find that here.

I really like how this series portrays two people who deal with loneliness in completely different ways. There’s one person who shuts his self away every birthday and chooses to be alone. Other people might see him as lonely, but he doesn’t feel that way because he is already comfortable with his solitude.

And then there’s another person who feels like he has to throw a party every birthday, even though he ends up forgetting what he did afterward. But from the perspective of someone who’s used to being alone, a person like that can also look lonely in their own way.
