What should I say? The last 5 episodes were... EPIC! It's almost impossible for me to cry watching a drama, but the interactions between XQ and Mr. Zheng made my eyes wet several times. That is what I call a performance, both actors were not anymore playing a role, they've become characters they've played! The ending is, more or less, within the expectations, I knew/felt his father was to be revealed (although I didn't expect Peter Ho 😂), and I haven't expected this "mystique technique" (although we had hints of early Alzheimer affecting especially Xu family 😂) spreading dementia over the Dafeng. I've expected the Emperor's empeachment (what a great actor is Minglan's father?) but I would have made his defeat just a bit more sore: him not to be affected by the "mystique technique" and remembering XQ flying away riding Loong. But there's a limit of 40 eps in C-productions... better take this "thing"slowly".

Blossom was nice, I've watched it till the very end, that means it is watchable even for a picky person like me. But I must say, the story had several heavy flows, too superpowerful leads, his poisoning thing dragged (read: exasperated), compensated only by a good direction and the chemistry you've mentioned. I agree with you, Meng Ziyi is not among the best C-actresses but she gave her best in this drama, as well as Lin Yunrui (I've seen him in few other dramas and got an idea he has a certain potential expecting to be developed, lets hope he will not stick just to idol dramas)... so, I guess, a pleasant result the two leads delievered was due to a good direction, too. I've watched several short dramas of this director and can say, he is truly capable to make an unsignificant story interesting. By using effective romantic scenes, he actually hides, ie. draws our attention from, shortcomings of the script. It worked on me, although I regularly search a well written story in any drama I watch, independently of the genre, actors, directors, production budget and so on. GotD was well written, well directed and well performed, I'll miss it for sure
I've been watching FP already, it's watchable but a little bit slow, it wasn't directed very well. Besides, on w.e. only one ep is released... Have you checked Under the Moonlight, how's that one?

XQ was probably only a vessel where to hide the treasure for a certain period of time - which maybe served him to retrieve smth else - till the moment in which he would take it out from his son.

This isn't true. The first genre mentioned for the classification of the drama is: "Comedy". Whoever checked the trailer before watching, knew it was a comedy and now, after 34 eps, we can calmly assert it is a great comedy, well mixed with other genres. Everybody is disappointed when a drama doesn't meet his/her expectations, but if you've expected smth different than what was largely announced, blame your dumbness, not the drama. Writing, directing, performing and producing a great comedy - you look down upon - requires extreme seriousness and work, more than in many other genres (eg. sore fantasy as in Ever Night), Dylan Wang's acting is fully aligned with the character he plays: a salesman with great social skills, playful, funny and imperfect, but with a deep sense of justice and care for the people around him. He is thoughtful, streetsmart, perserverant and competitive. Although similar, Fan Xian is different from XQ, Zhang Ruo Yun's brilliantly performed that almost perfect and less social character, but who thinks a hero in a male-centred drama must be perfect, eg. in memorizing hundreds of Chinese classical poems? XQ is not perfect, he remembers two verses of each at the most, as most of the people does, btw., which makes him even more relatable. Hundreds of Chinese wuxia, gong'an, mythological and historical novel/short stories' heroes are not only imperfect but they are recognizable exactly for their flows, even when they're "full of sh*t", people just love them. "A drama needs to start strong to keep viewers engaged". Actually, it started strong and keeps us engaged together with other viewers who broke the 30K heat index for a top drama. If it didn't work for you and didn't keep you engaged, fine. Good riddance.
