I agree with you, this one is more promising than that one we've dropped for absence of plot and... many more…

This drama is too much. HQY and his fine self always lurking around. That's what I'm talking about. The tea is…
I agree with you, this one is more promising than that one we've dropped for absence of plot and... many more things.
But the disturbing elements are present even here, like FL's make-up, I can't stand when the lipstick is overboard and foundation stiff so much the actors can't move their face muscles... then, the music which slows down the pace and all other things, like one ep a day, and that one is shorter, you can watch it only when you put smth cooking on the stove and when the ep is at the end, it means the meal is cooked

Most of the time, she looks like she is afraid to move her face muscles.
She is not a great actress but I fear she doesn't move her face muscles because of the heavy make-up on her face.

Apart from the make-up (I trully appreciate the fact the make-up artist disclosed his identity, well, boy, you've done an awfull job), so far this thing is nice

Dai Yue Qing's M&A of the River Gang (in ep 15) was so impressive that I suspect the fact could have really taken place. I've searched but I'm not a Mandarin speaker, so if anyone knows more about the spreading of counterfait money at that time, please, let me know.

I've noticed (in his WoF and in this one, he included the detail of PLA soldiers sleeping on the streets of Shanghai, because CCP ordered not to disturb citiziens, which indeed happened) the scriptwriter is a history freak, but I just want to know is it his imagination (helped by the gorgeous actress) or the true fact

I'm impressed with Dai Yue Qing's acting in the drama. She did a great job as a villian who's also a xxx. I was…
a great actress

Well, I'm not sure how much longer I will hang on. With all the new dramas getting ready to drop especially Kdramas…
I've told you, the plot is weak and now is turning even worse, there's no character to root for or to get attached to, especially female characters are all bad in their own way, one dumb, another a psycho and the third a stalker. I've tried to take it as smth to switch off the brain and laugh, but there's nothing to laugh about either, there's no comedy.
Now I'm watching it (FF-ing) only out of curiosity: how bad a script can go.

I'll never root for Huang Ying and Shang Yu, only root her with the therapist
Agree, a complete stalker, if she was a male, we would all be horrified by such a behaviour

worth watching?
No, imho.
The plot is bad and is turning worse, I am FF-ing most of the dumb dialogues.
You have nobody to root on, espc. female characters are flat and annoying: 1st FL is rush, dumb, and unable to compromise, 2nd is an ambitious bi*ch and psycho, 3rd is too childish and total stalker. Male leads are not much better, very bidimentional, a viewer can't feel any empathy or connection with them unless in certain rare moments. ML suffers a heavy disabilty but he is so overly self-focused and self-confident that you can't feel empathy even for him.
The music and outfits are the only thing you can watch/listen here.

Good point on the naming of Green Light workshop. It's not the best costume drama out there right now but so far…
It's watchable only due to the fact the production put some dime and effort in setting creation, music and actors are fit/convincing in acrobatic scenes, but I think we will all get bored after the truth on their "entangled fate" is revealed to these somewhat dumb protagonists and this should happen very soon, we've already seen 1/3 of the entire drama (usually it is around 1/3rd of a drama when the hints on what to expect next are given to the audience).
Because there's nothing more in this fantasy-romance* plotline, that is clear from both the trailer and the synopsis, beside the fact both the power-struggle and sister's harmful behaviour are unsufficiently explained and consequently unconvincing. And, as I've said above, the third couple is intrinsicly illogical, added just for the purpose of story-streaching, otherwise the drama couldn't last 24 eps.

*I've seen someone stating this is a romcom and it is wrongly tagged as "comedy", well, till now, I haven't seen any comedy in it.

I can't help but feel sorry for the uncle. Being used by the bitch sister just to get things.🙄 And I don't…
He is not much better, for the throne, he is ready to harm his nephew, the only reason why he still haven't killed him is that the nephew is good in pretending to be carefree and disinterested in power games...

It looks like it was an easy matchmaking job for the authors:

1. cp are two self-confident dudes to the level of being stupid. FL is overly rush with difficulties to learn things and compromise, ML thinks too highly of himself but is unable to catch a huge difference in a character of the girl-supposed-to-have-saved-him or to see giant hints who was exactly that girl (the one who lived in the forest where he was harmed, named her workshop "Green Light" they've seen as children or who can produce sounds he can hear, despite his deafness).
2. ambitious couple. SML aspiring to be successor to the throne, SFL to become minister of music
3. completely incomprehensible match: an annoying, aggresive, childish and not particularly normal 3rd FL chasing the only relatively normal guy of this story. At least, till this point...

The story is a crap (no wonder the scriptwriter wasn't even mentioned in the "cast" section, she or he is probably ashamed to reveal her/himself), but nice visuals and music can keep me watching while doing other things...

what wrong with eating two apples a day???
I've loved that detail in the story, and how it was used to "quit the smoking" 😁
It may be some kind of mocking from the authors, but, hey, Hitler was a total vegetarian... A good diet habit doesn't mean you are not a criminal

yes, that's the vibe I've got too, my only hope is that this pace continues till the end.
I loved this writer's WoF, too, an amazing drama with such an interesting plot and so much inspired by true historical events and persons (another rarity in C-dramaland!), but how he concluded the story was... well. disapponting, at least for me.
Maybe this one will have better closure, someone above correctly pointed out how relatable is LSB character, certainly more than Wei Ruolai in WoF, and we have this dangerous anthrax story in the background, which is certainly more thrilling than central banking issues. 😁

I like how the story is developing for all the characters and that we are slowly meeting new ones and they are…
I agree with you about the proper character introducing, a great skill of this scriptwriter we've seen in his other dramas - such a rare skill in C-dramaland... Not turning the ML into a communist, ie. depicting him as "a non-ideological", is also a characteristic pattern for a protagonist this scriptwriter usually follows: Wang Yibo's Wei Ruolai in WoF is also such a person, but I think the scriptwriter keeps this pattern for white-washing purposes, as to emphasise the "inclusiveness" of the CP ruling, their appreciation of experts, the CP's main role (and main goal) as "protectors of the people" and not dogmatic, an image which is so popular today... but the reality of that time was very different. And it is normal it was different, because the whole world was put in some sort of dogmatic setting, it was impossible to escape from it by "just doing properly your own job".
After the WWII, the Civil War between KMT and CCP continued and this war (similar to civil wars in some other countries, like Greece) served for the final definition of ideological outmarking between the world influenced by the USA & Soviet ideologies.

So far (ep 7), the cast is truly well selected. Chen Zheyuan is born for the "good-but-naughty" roles, directing seems fine, too, I see one of two directors is a specialist for martial art directing, so we can reasonably expect a lot of action, the other is good in mise-en-scene, my only worry is the scriptwriting. The writer is the same of The War of Faith, which was almost perfect in the first 2/3rds but dissapointing in the last third. He is certainly well attracted towards and well versed in the history of Shanghai, especially of Min Guo period and I personally don't mind (any ideological) white-washing if the story-telling holds while flowing steadily towards a closure (because dramas are meant to be art creations, not historical documentaries), but because of WoF, I fear a bit for the closure of this story.
