While reading a novel I felt the biggest reason for her lack of confidence might be him. She respected him the most and she wanted to be acknowledged by him but he never did that for.

He protected her but never complimented her. He was someone she respected and she definitely wanted to be acknowledged by him. But his lack of communication never let him.
