In the show they don't explain how they go from first meeting her trying to save him from a beating to him suddenly working for her father and being trustworthy enough to protect her

I'm still in the first episode and had to google why the male lead suddenly gets to work with the female lead's father and is trustworthy enough to be sent to protect her in the palace when she's already an empress. First they meet when she runs away to go the capital and sees him getting beaten up. Next he's already recovered when he defends her from bandits in the road. Third he already works for her father. All this without a single explanation. Is it gonna be like this the entire show?
