they are not half siblings. The female lead's mother abandoned her as a little child to live with male lead's rich dad. None of them know about any of this until they are already adults. The female lead's mother doesn't even consider her an actual daughter.

I'm still in the first episode and had to google why the male lead suddenly gets to work with the female lead's father and is trustworthy enough to be sent to protect her in the palace when she's already an empress. First they meet when she runs away to go the capital and sees him getting beaten up. Next he's already recovered when he defends her from bandits in the road. Third he already works for her father. All this without a single explanation. Is it gonna be like this the entire show?
