manga daisaku turned out to be a scout/spy for the enemy of the mibu roshigumi, so basically kyuu-chan and daisaku ended up having to do this sword battle to the death, were it turned out kyuu-chan had become the better swordsman of the two, therefore he survived while daisaku was the one killed by him

ngl manga yamase still confuses me, but from my interpretation of him he seems like a "thrill of the hunt" kinda guy, but a tamer one than most, since his involvement later on doesn't really stir conflict between yuki and asami (except asami getting jealous in this episode ofc )

at least his pursue for yuki and later asami is very temporary, since none of them are interested in him lol 😂
