I loved seeing the main leads together again after so long since Go Go Squid. I was pretty young when I first watched it, and it was one of my earliest dramas, so I remember adoring this couple back then. Watching them now feels so nostalgic, especially since their chemistry is still as strong as ever. They’re incredible actors who feel like completely different characters in this drama. The focus on women’s empowerment is inspiring, though also heartbreaking at times, especially when portraying their early struggles. It’s a sobering reminder that these challenges still exist for women today, making it even harder to imagine what women in the past endured. It’s such an enjoyable eye candy drama, and I’m contemplating whether to watch season 2 xD.
Y'all, what's with the absolute civil war surrounding this drama? 😭 On one side, people are acting like this is the greatest Kdrama ever created and would probably defend it with their lives. On the other side, there are people who swear it's the worst thing they've ever watched. The dramatic divide made me even more curious to watch it. For me, Lovely Runner was just really cute. Like aggressively cute. The whole drama feels like it was designed to make you smile. The time travel aspect was fun, the romance was sweet, the family moments were adorable, and I absolutely loved the grandma. My biggest disappointment, however, is that I was robbed of a Sun jae and Kim Tae seong KISS SCENE. Yes, I said what I said. The chemistry, the tension, the potential wasted. We listen and we don't judge. 😔 I think one of the drama's biggest strengths is how easy it is to watch. It's the kind of show you put on when life is being annoying and you just want something fluffy and comforting. Not every drama needs to traumatize you, leave you emotionally destroyed. Sometimes you just need two attractive people being cute while fate repeatedly throws them together. That being said, I won't pretend it's perfect. Around episode 13 or so, I definitely started speeding through parts of it. The story began feeling repetitive, and it was pretty obvious they were stretching certain plot points longer than necessary. What had been exciting and refreshing at the beginning started feeling a little too familiar. I didn't hate it, but I did lose some interest toward the end. Still, despite the pacing issues, I genuinely enjoyed watching it. The leads had great chemistry, there were plenty of heartwarming moments, and it delivered exactly what I wanted from a rom com. Also, a piece of advice: stop reading ALL the reviews before watching a drama. Seriously. I feel like reading too many comments beforehand can ruin the experience. Once someone points out a flaw, you start actively looking for it instead of naturally enjoying the story. I found myself noticing things people complained about simply because those opinions were already sitting in the back of my mind. If I had gone in completely blind, I probably wouldn't have focused on those issues nearly as much. Overall, a good watch. Is it the masterpiece some people claim it is? uh not for me . Is it the disaster others make it out to be? cmon bruh Definitely not. It's just a fun, cozy, feel good drama that knows exactly what it wants to be. If you're looking for something deep and life changing, this probably isn't it (cuz of the 9 rating lmao). But if you're looking for something cute that'll have you smiling like an idiot at your screen, then Lovely Runner might be worth the ride.
Omg, I just finished this drama in TWO. DAYS. It’s been forever since I’ve binged something like this, and wow, it was so worth it. I genuinely loved it. It’s been a long time since I found a drama that didn’t start boring me after a few episodes, but this one had me completely hooked from start to finish.
It pulled on so many of my heartstrings. And the women empowerment theme? Yeah, that’s exactly my thing. I live for it. What’s funny is, when I first read the description, I actually thought it sounded kind of boring, like it would be overly angsty and slow. But wow, I could not have been more wrong.
The storytelling is just so satisfying and engaging. It constantly makes you want to watch just one more episode, and suddenly it’s 3am. It doesn’t just tell a story, it pulls you in. You feel everything the characters feel, like you’re right there with them, like you’re part of their world and their family.
Also, this is the first drama I’ve watched with the female lead, and I’m already in love. Her face is so cute, and her acting is so natural and expressive. I’m definitely going to check out more of her work. There’s something about stories like this that makes you think maybe people and lives like this really do exist somewhere in this huge world. It just makes life feel a bit more interesting. And the male lead Yanxi, I’ve seen him before in Go Go Squid. Back then, I found him a little nonchalant and kind of poker faced,( not in a bad way though, it felt like his signature style). But honestly, I actually like that about him. It’s subtle but charming. And in this drama, that same vibe but maybe more expressive somehow made him even more lovable.
But the best part is the couple. They’re the kind of pair you can’t help but root for. Every moment with them just makes you more invested, more emotional, and more attached. Now the ending. I won’t lie, it completely took me by surprise. It did feel a little rushed in my opinion. This story definitely had enough depth for at least 10 to 20 more episodes, especially to properly build up that missed strong woman villain arc in a woman empowerment theme. It’s honestly such a shame they skipped over it, probably because of that frustrating 40 episode limit. I mean, I blinked and suddenly we were at episode 40, and the main villain herself only really showed up in the last few episodes. That part felt like such a missed opportunity. I also wish we got more time to explore the other characters towards the end. Their stories deserved a bit more space to breathe and conclude properly.
But even with all that, I can’t bring myself to dislike it. Not even a little. That’s how good this drama is. The rushed ending might be its only real flaw, but somehow it still leaves you feeling full. I’m genuinely surprised at how much I loved it despite that
I dropped Moonlight Mystique at ep 24 even though I literally binged it in one sitting when it first came out. I don’t remember why I stopped, but looking back, it was probably because of how insanely angsty and predictable it gets for me. Ever since then, though, I kept getting random flashbacks of this drama while watching others, and that’s when I realized I needed it give it a try atleast. So I finally took a lot of courage to pick up a drama i dropped lol but yes went back and finished it… and yeah, I always knew it was good
First of all, the VISUALS?? Insane. The makeup, costumes, everything is just pure eye candy also the ost is beautiful. I genuinely loved watching it for that alone. But beyond that, the story is really good and emotional, which is both a strength and a weakness. It keeps you hooked, but at the same time, the angst can feel a bit too much it’s almost became exhausting at some points. For me, the first half of the series was the best imo, while the second half just went full heartbreak mode.
Also, can we talk about how many side characters they killed off?? It actually got so frustrating 😭 The second leads especially played such a huge role in the story, so losing them felt so unfair. I was way more attached than I expected to be, but the ending suggests they all will be revived hopefully for my own sanity lmao
The Bai Xi being the bow concept was actually a creative element and something I genuinely liked it even though pretty heartbreaking and Mo Li, his whole obsession with marrying the female lead It felt kind of cliché and I won’t lie, I cringed a bit. At the same time, I get that it’s supposed to show his control freak side like he thinks marrying Bai Shou/Xing Yue gives him power over her,It also kind of exposes a vulnerable side of him that can be taken advantage of, so I see what they were trying to do
Also, I’ve seen a lot of people hating on Bai Lu, and I feel like that’s a bit unfair. Actresses like Bai Lu, Zhao Lusi, Yang Zi, and Dilraba all have their own way of embodying the characters they play. Most of the time, what people are criticizing isn’t even the acting itself, but the character they were written to portray or simply a style that doesn’t match their personal taste. In this drama especially, I feel like Bai Lu’s character Bai shou is meant to be that way flawed in the beginning and more melancholic towards the end. I personally didn’t see any major issues with her acting, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. This is just my perspective.
Overall, this drama is BEAUTIFUL but painfully angsty/melancholy and predictable at times only if you're a veteran in xianxia. Maybe it’s just the phase I’m in right now, but I feel like I couldn’t fully handle this level of angst it definitely hit harder than usual. Like my eyes literally hurt after all that crying.but this drama is a good watch it’s a drama that sticks with you, and I can see why it kept coming back to me even after I dropped it the first time.
Aww, such an adorable drama you guys, I loved the post-credit scenes 🥹. The drama somehow felt both rushed and slow paced at the same time, which is hard to explain, but it still worked. I do wish there were more episodes with more story. Even so, it’s imperfectly perfect in its own way. I’d really love to see a season 2 or something with only Changning and Bo’er hehe.
It’s a good watch! Landy Li never disappoints she’s such a versatile actress. I really liked her in The Starry Love, so I’m glad to see her shine here as well. The ending plot twist was surprising. I mean, the emperor being an imposter was pretty obvious, but the twin reveal? That was something else to see unfold. That said, some of the other investigations were fairly predictable, and it wasn’t too hard to guess how they’d turn out. The main leads had decent chemistry. I liked the kissing scenes, but some of their “interruptions” felt a little cringe, not gonna lie. The drama didn’t really come off as angsty it leaned more toward a wannabe mystery-thriller vibe, which it did manage to deliver at certain points. I wanted to drop this drama several times (I’m trying to fix my attention span these days 💀), but I’m glad I stuck with it. The twin plot at the end made it worth it for me :P
Not sure what ending you are referring to as the one I watched had the couple happily living on the plains with…
I agree with your comment especially about a 39-year-old playing a 16-year-old. I think I even mentioned that in my review of this drama. When I said the ending was unsatisfactory, that’s completely a personal opinion, just like you said. I tend to like stronger female leads, and with the title, I was hoping the FML would grow stronger and get revenge, or that the villains would face intense karma. But after Awu’s miscarriage, she seemed to become less and less “rebellious” and more forgiving toward all her enemies, which felt a bit pitiful to me. I also don’t really understand how she “chose” Xiao Qi. She was clearly forced to marry him by her family who were corrupt themselves. I really liked Xiao Qi; he was super patient with her and was probably the only thing her father did right. But even then, the ending felt unsatisfactory mainly because it was blatantly rushed and gave the couple only the bare minimum they deserved after everything they suffered. I can’t recall every detail about why I was left disappointed, but it’s not because the drama was bad it’s because it had the potential to be so much more. It started with such intensity and storytelling filled with angst, which was honestly so fun to watch. But the title misled me into thinking the FML would rise against every evil and wrong, becoming truly powerful. There’s nothing wrong with a vulnerable character, of course but the title gave me hope she would become much more than what we got. I hope you don’t take any offense.
Hello, pls was it a happy or sad ending. You can add a spoiler tag
It is a unsatisfactory ending but the 2 main leads didn't die and they stayed together so i guess it can be concluded as an happy ending ? It really depends on the viewer but please do give it a watch if you want the whole experience ;)
So far, it’s really good, but I have to say I like the Grand Princess more than the FML both in terms of character and chemistry with the ML, which usually never happens 🚶🏻♀️ So I really hope the FML proves why she’s the FML lol. I especially hate characters (and even people in real life) who keep lying just to cover up another lie without realizing they’re only hurting themselves more in the process so yeah, I really hope she gets some kind of arc Such a shame I can’t make time to binge this since it’s exam season 🥲
The visuals and cinematography really stay with you just like in Empresses in the Palace and Yanxi Palace. Also, the title feels so misleading because the FML is anything but rebellious 😭 I really wish it had a better ending and fewer frustrating moments. would have been one of the best historical drama
Just finished this drama, and honestly, the first few episodes and the last few were the sweet spot. I personally enjoyed it a lot even though some parts felt a bit bland, the overall light-hearted energy and comedic moments were so heartwarming that they kept me watching. The fight scenes were incredibly satisfying, and as a woman, there were so many moments where I felt deeply connected to the situations. It really made me reflect on the things women have gone through for decades, and that emotional connection made the story hit harder. I especially loved the FML the energy she gives off is so powerful. Her relationships, her presence, and her acting made her grow very close to my heart. One of the cutest things in this drama for me was how, even after her gender was revealed, her “buddies” and comrades remained fully supportive. Their bond was honestly adorable and so wholesome to watch. Next, He Rufei I already knew he was a great actor, and he successfully rage-baited me 😭. He was such a strong villain, the kind you hate to your core, but at the same time, I found him deeply pitiful. He felt entitled to everything He Yan worked hard for, simply because he believed that if he had been healthy from the start, he would’ve had it all. That mindset made him tragic in a way I hated him, but I also felt sorry for him. On the other hand, I truly hated the Chancellor. That man had everything and still chose corruption he literally chose violence and chaos for no reason 😭. As for Mr. Chu Zhao, I don’t really see him as a villain. He felt more like a lost soul, chasing whatever he believed was right in the moment, all while carrying the trauma of his poor mother. He was another pitiful character to me clearly struggling with a lot. His ending was pretty good, but I genuinely don’t understand why they killed off that Yan He guy… like, I don’t see how that really added to the story. Maybe they were just trying to add more angst? 😭 Also, can we talk about the poster? The FML looks absolutely gorgeous. And when I first started this drama, I genuinely thought it would be way more tragic, but it turned out to be a really good watch. I don’t know why people are calling this mid lowkey an 9/10 for me. 8.5/10 for the drama but 9/10 for the fml ;)
Ughhh y'all i absolutely hate endings with mainleads dying is this good enough to watch it even with the expected ending 😔 lowkey in a dilemma to start this
I asked evrything about if ml has concubine or marries another etc...but forgot another important question before…
Wow, you must be really young 😭 Don’t jump to conclusions so fast give the story some time to develop. They did this on purpose. Twists like these are what make dramas interesting because they show the deeper emotions and layers of the characters instead of everything being straightforward. When the ML says he “loved so much,” that love is clearly for his brotheralong with the respect and responsibility he feels toward him. He’s trying to fulfill his brother’s last wishes and make sure Lady Yulou is well taken care of. That doesn’t automatically mean romantic love, and assuming so kind of misses the emotional depth of the scene. Details like this are exactly what make dramas enjoyable to watch they add meaning, complexity, and realism to the characters instead of making everything surface-level. That’s what good storytelling looks like.
I just dropped "Glory". PEAAASE someone tell me the frustration level of THIS drama is very low??????????????????????Please…
I mean most historical drama have scheming plot and characters but this one depends on you what is your ragebait/annoying level lol but if you like enemies to lovers then this one is lit for that
